Austin, TX Game Day

Truth is, though, I also have to decide if I'm up to it. Honestly, the most appealing thing to me about a game-day is the chance to play, since I run most of the games for my own group. So I may just decide I want to be a good old-fashioned PC all day. :)
Oh, I know how you feel. I was disappointed that I didn't get to play more new games/settings at the Arlington game day. I wanted to try out AU, and Midnight, but I didn't get the opportunity. :(

Maybe next time.

I'd be most interested in playing in games I don't normally play in. Or, if Ari were to run some sick Scarred Lands stuff, I'd be all over it because I love Scarred Lands
I would like to try out the Scarred Lands. I've never played in that setting.

I'd be up for an Austin gameday as well.

Shadowdancer, Do you know of any groups in Temple that are looking for new players? I am looking for a group, just moved to Temple.

I'm attending a special Austin Game Day today: The Steve Jackson Games Halloween party for staff. We're a gonna play a bunch of games today!

As long as there's advance notice and it's a weekend I should be able to attend a game day without any problems. I doubt I'd want to run any games (I want to play!) but I could probably be convinced to run at least one.

How many of us Austinites are there on this board? I had assumed there wasn't an Austin Game Day because there weren't enough of us.

Depending on what weekend this happens, I would probably be up for a fantasy short. Or a horror sci-fi one-off. Either way would be very light on rules, to cram more roleplaying in; and I would need to let my players know ahead of time.

The fantasy short would be A Bad Day At The Old Bar In The Big City - it's about several grumpy, retired adventurers at their favorite bar when something happens.

The horror sci-fi would be about a small band of interstellar pirates who stumble across an abandoned freighter. Depending on play, deaths may or may not be copious, but there will be NPCs to take over when it does.

d20Dwarf: Are you the one who was taking photographs at the Arlington game day? If not, do you know who was? If so, are you going to post them here?

Dr. Talos: No, I don't know of any groups. Our group is on seasonal hiatus until probably January.

I have a short Stargate game to run and introduce the setting/game to those who are intreseded. Note if you want to see how Spycraft works then it will do for that as it is based on Spycraft. I would need about a week's warning.

I've got no objection to signing anything you put in front of me. Well, so long as it isn't a blank check or contract, or something like that. ;)

As far as running a game... Put me down for a "maybe." Every time I try to run a one-shot game, it ends up taking longer than I expected and turning into a two-parter--and as often as not, we never have the chance to finish. (Joe Carriker and Colin Suleiman will tell you that they're still hanging from GenCon.)

Let me give it some thought, see if I can come up with something that I feel I can actually have done in a reasonable amount of time.

Truth is, though, I also have to decide if I'm up to it. Honestly, the most appealing thing to me about a game-day is the chance to play, since I run most of the games for my own group. So I may just decide I want to be a good old-fashioned PC all day. :)

Ah hey, no sweat. I used to be in the same boat and finally convinced Reiella to take a stab at DMing. So now we alternate, so I get my fair share of PC action. :)

My group will be back in Temple in a few days, Dr. Talos. Maybe we could get together and game once they do? That goes for you as well, Shadowdancer. I know we talked about it before, but never got around to actually getting together. I'd be nice to have a large group again :)

We will be living at the Bluffs apartments in Temple and are moving in on the 11th or 12th of November. My e-mail address is creative-force@realmsofevil.net if you wish to contact me for directions/information.

Also, I am working on setting up an actual game store in Temple. As far as I know, and I have lived here my entire life (except for a year), there aren't any. I hope to open it in the new shopping center near the new Staples since that looks like a good location. I hope when it opens that you guys will stop by for a visit :)

I will contact Dave at Dragon's Lair and see about holding a EN World Game day there. Perhaps we can get some organized games going if someone would be willing to DM a one off. We can also do some board gaming.

MEG will be glad to have some prizes available. We will see how it goes soon and I will post something here.

While I love Dragon's Lair, it is a very difficult venue to have gaming at. Once you have tables set up, along with the players (not counting the customers who are just there to shop) it gets very crowded and noisy very quickly. (This has been my experience when we used to try to run RPGA Game Days there and also from what I've seen from folks participating in Friday CCG night).

If there is a lot of interest, it may be better trying to find another venue and getting donations from the participants to cover the cost for the space.
