Yes! that's the one and the typical reaction... :P

No one seems to have mentioned one of my (barely remembered) favorite pirate movies: Scalawag, with Kirk Douglas as the peg-legged pirate in a Western treasure hunt.

Of course, just try finding the movie. It hasn't come out on DVD yet, and there is some stupid kids' movie called Scalawag the Monkey (or something or other) that clogs up the eBay listings. :(

yarrr, I haven't seen many a pirate movies, but I yarr:

Pirates of the Carribean
Muppet Treasure Island
Sinbad

I remember Cutthroat Island being very boring.... arrrr, that's all e know

What's the movie called where a family is shipwrecked on a deserted island and proceed to build huts and other things but then the island is invaded by pirates and then they ( the family, including children and tiger, I think) fight the pirates with exploding coconuts and falling logs, kinda like in Home Alone.

Well, if you know what I'm talking about that's the one I really liked. Though I saw it when I was six or so on Dutch Tv dubbed in German at my grandpa's house.

What does 'avast ye' mean? Stop you?

Yeah; Avast: interjection (Nautical) -- Used as a command to stop or desist. ETYMOLOGY: From Middle Dutch hou vast, hold fast : hou, houd, imperative of houden, to hold + vast, fast; see past- in Indo-European roots

my favorite pirate movie is the Treasure Island version that had Charlton Heston as Long John Silver... I think it was on TNT. Pirates of the Carribean was really good too... I hear a sequel is in the works. Cutthroat Island had kind of a blah script, but the props were great (ever notice the really neat double barrelled pistol that Morgan uses?)....
