BACKGROUND:
Gwystol Underleaf once lived a very simple existance, with a simple diet and a simple Plan.
He woke up in the morning, said hello to whatever animals were about and went about his daily routine of cleaning the large Tree-bole that he lived in (complete with garden, and an observatory platform some 30' up in the branches).Gwystol played in the streams (avoiding 'Old Grumpyfins', a huge Catfish bent on eating him), raced against Weasels and Marmots (usually losing, but winning a few races), danced with Vindra and Syrellia, the 2 Pixie Girls who lived in the Meadow just over the Hill and creating polstices and herbal remedies for any who needed them (many animals were hurt by Hunters or through accidents).
One day, while eating berries on his Observatory, Gwystol looked out over the Valley and saw something shiny glittering in the Sun.
SO, grabbing his 'Things' (including Autumn-Bringer, his dimiutive Scimitar and his 'Bag' containing his traveling gear, the young Druid set out, perched upon the back of his most trusted friend Yellow-Eye, a great Dire Wolf.
What Gwystol found was a train of Humans, traveling in wagons, gaily colored and bedecked with tiny jewels and bits of silver and copper.
'Hello there!' shouted an elderly Human, a man with a twinkle in his eye. Gwystol was shocked. He was sure that the human had not seen him, humans never spotted him when he rode at the Forest's edge.
'Yes, i did say Hello, little Gnome!' the Old Man said again, laughing.
Then Gwystol did something that he nevere thought he would do. He coaxed Yellow-Eye out into the open and greeted these humans.
'He..hello' he returned in Common long unused.
'I am Gwystol Underleaf, Druid and protector of the Woods.'
'Druid, eh?' said the Old Man,'Well, that's fine, but you do seem to be attached to that small bit of Forest, my good Gnome. Perhaps you should see the Wide World that waits outside of it, eh?'
Such a thought was shocking, Gwystol had always lived in the Wood, he never even thought of leaving, although it might be exciting to see what was outside... What was he thinking!?!
The Old Man smiled at him benevolently.
'Having a few second thought, eh? Why don't you come with us, we are seeing what the road brings, I'm sure your Forest can do without you for a bit, my good Gnome. Gwystol shook his head, Foolishness, that's what was in his head, he must have sniffed some Yrchla Flowers as he rode out, they were filling his head with suck Notions...I do so wonder what's beyond the Mountain, though...I've never seen past that, even when i rode upon the back of Longfeather the eagle, perhaps I should see what lies there...and then beyond that as well! Gwystol was confused, these were alien thoughts to his mind, yet they seemed so Inviting....
'Perhaps I will...go...Mister...I didn't catch your name, Sir?'
The old Man smiled again and said 'Oh, I have many names, among many Folk...some call me 'The Dweller on the Horizon', others the 'Old Man of the Road'. I think I like The Traveller' best.
So, with a strange and most unusual desire to see the World beyond, Gwystol Underleaf left the Woods to see what the road held for him.

potions, scrolls and Infusions are fine but you will be penalised EXP to make up for making them.

I guess I should point out that there are no dragons on Avonshar. I will have to "rework" your Woodsfather to something more Avonsharian.
For an Idea of what the world is like, look at the story hour thread.
Avonshar is a world where Humanoids have transplanted to. the flora and fauna are very different froma standard D&D game. Many of the familiar species of animals from D&D worlds like greyhawk are transplants here (and have mutated since coming here)

Argent, i think you will find this background easier than the other one. (WHEW!@ no Dragons :D )
Hope you like it.

Hurry Forsaken, hurry!!! They are coming!!! (Even now, PbP gamers are waking their groggy little heads on the east coast, bent on edging him out of a spot...
:D
