What if you turn into another creature with the same ability?

According to my DM, that would be different. He doesn't have a problem with me turning into, say, a dragon and a linnorm and breathing in consecutive rounds, because the breath weapons are from different creatures.

So, by extension, I assume that he would allow two different creatures with lay on hands to be used - just not lay on hands from the same source.

I think it's pretty reasonable. Shapechange is a 9th level spell, after all, and mass heal would be better at healing pretty much any way you look at it. Giving up power for versatility is fair.

Why bother? Shapechange into a Glabrezu instead and abuse wish. Just make sure you bring a mortal friend... or a Familiar. ;)

Cheers, -- N

I read that as being a (Sp) ability, though:

Once per month, a glabrezu can fulfill a wish for a mortal humanoid. The demon can use this ability to offer a mortal whatever he or she desires—but unless the wish is used to create pain and suffering in the world, the glabrezu demands either terrible evil acts or great sacrifice as compensation.

It appears in the Sp section of the entry.

Absolutely right. Don't know what I was thinking.
Balor's Vorpal weapon sale still in effect, though... ;)

Heh. Would you argue that that falls under the text about how separated parts do not revert? :]
