Is B5 d20-based? That's the biggest clue to compatibility.

I know you didn't ask for alternatives, but Alternity: Warships is free and some of hte

Odd. I only clicked submit once. Server hiccup?

Edit: Even stranger, I recall that after I originally posted the thread loaded and only showed one response. Stranger and strangerer.

I don't have the book yet, but I know the B5 system. While they are both technically d20, B5 uses it's own ship combat rules (especially after 2nd edition came out) and they do not mesh well with d20 Future. I'm too lazy busy to do a conversion, but I'm sure it can be done with a decent amount of work...

Why not just use the B5 rules and ignore d20 Future? That's what I did with Alternity Warships. The only conversion changes I made were to make the system compatible with how d20 System does attack/skill rolls compared to how Alternity does such things differently.

I found that the d20 mechanic had to be elaborated to deal with the ordinary/good/amazing mechanic used in Alternity, because weapon damage was tied to it. So, a ship has a three-part defense rating. A fighter, for example, may have a defense of 11/16/18, and you roll damage according to which result you manage to hit. Is that the way you did it, or how do you decide which damage rating to apply?

Ordinary: Successful roll vs. the DC.
Good: Exceed DC by 5-9.
Amazing: Exceed DC by 10+.

Because a) I don't have any of the B5 books and b) I've already invested time in the d20 F rules for starship creation. I was curious how close they were.
