As a gamer who longs to go to GenCon but lives on the other side of the planet, I'm just happy to get the chance to see any of the pic's taken at the event...

Maybe I don't have 'mainstream' tastes, but I found a lot of these women attractive, to varying degrees. And as for Dante Hicks' comment about the only 'do-able babe,' were I not married, there were plenty pictures of women that, to me, appeared eminently 'do-able.'
But that's just me.
As for objectifying, throughout high school, university and my stint teaching in South Korea, at least half (and sometimes, more than) of my gang was female. In my various jobs back here in Canada, I've regularly worked in offices or taught classes in which I was the only guy. I've noted that as long as the person wasn't lecherously leering at them, most women don't mind the occasional 'objectification.' Respect doesn't mean we don't recognize physically attractive as physically attractive.
That's my 2 cents Canadian (which is worth more now than it was three months ago!).

Thanks for posting the pics, ArthurQ. I viewed them all with interest to see what sort of women were going to GenCon. I hope to be at next year's Con and will seek you out so you can take my pic for the 2004 Gallery.

Okay, so I had some time (a lot of time, my supervisor is off sick) so I went through the photos and made some comments. I have to say, there are a lot of pictures of attractive women, especially considering how unforgiving the camera is.

hhmmm... I think the amount of "do-able" women was very low actually if I might add my "thoughts". The Ophidian Booth Babe was extremely sexy and certainly the pose was great. She is a natural model.
I still think that the "undo-able" photos were neat thou... some of those costumes are great. Naturally some of those girls have a lot of courage using those chainmail outfits. They might not be pretty in my point of view... but it certainly must make the Con that much more fun to see so many dressed up people.
As for objectifying... its no big deal.... after all I cant talk to these girls and all we have are images. So no way around objectifying. Anyway... women are the first too judge women on looks, body and clothes. They are much more severe in this issue than most men are.
