Bad Blood PPV

Eternalknight

First Post
Well the latest WWE pay per view has aired, and is the first RAW only PPV. Did you see it and what did you think?

SPOILERS........

No surprise that HHH beat Kevin Nash for the Championship. Hopefully this will lead up to a HHH / Goldberg clash at the next PPV, with Goldberg winning.

I was a bit disappointed with Christian beating Booker T, especially by disqualification. A stuff up by WWE as far as I am concerned.

La Resistance beating Kane / RVD came as no surprise either. Have you noticed how all of the Bad Guys now hold the titles?

No women's match for this PPV which struck me as odd.

The Redneck Triathalon was funny to a point, especially the 'pie' eating contest!

Anyway, just my thoughts.

While I didn't see the PPV, I do have a few thoughts on the outcome of some of the matches.

1) HHH/Kevin Nash - While I didn't really expect Nash to win, I thought it would've been nice to see someone else with the title.

As for a HHH/Goldberg matchup at Summerslam (as I believe Vengeance will be a Smackdown PPV), that really doesn't excite me much. I know they will eventually fight, but I think that it could be much more compelling if they gave Goldberg more of a personality than he had in WCW. IMHO, he is still the same wrestler now that he was in the WCW. I haven't seen him really be tested in a match, though Jericho did some nice spots leading up to Bad Blood. I do think Goldberg will defeat HHH, but I don't believe he will do it on his first try.

2) Christian/Booker T - I agree that the WWE screwed this one up quite nicely, as it would have been a nice reward for the work he has put in the last couple of years.

3) La Resistance/Kane & RVD - Not suprised on this one either, as it was obvious that Kane & RVD were heading their separate ways. Thought Kane would turn heel, was surprised when he was given a title shot Monday.

Does anyone think that Kane won't be maskless after next Monday's RAW?

As for the no women's match, I was surprised too as the women's matches have been one of the more consistent areas of RAW in recent months (IMHO, of course).

Redneck Triathlon - An interesting concept, but I find 2/3 contests on PPV's to be problematic for the simple reason that I have yet to see one where it didn't go the distance. Also, the fact that I think anyone who watches wrestling knew that Stone Cold was winning this one made it a bit unappealing.

I'm curious to see how RAW handles the extra long build up to Summerslam and how Smackdown handles their PPV. I felt that Smackdown has been subpar this last month, lacking much in the way of direction other than Lesnar-Show and Mysterio-Hardy. I also felt that Bad Blood was basically a 3 hour RAW with the exception of Hell in a Cell and perhaps the pie-eating contest (though the WWE seems to have more leeway, so it might have been doable on RAW).

I agree with you on HHH - although he is a great wrestler, someone else needs to be the World Heavyweight Champion for a little while. I think (and hopefully I am right) that Kane will win the title next week.

The problem with Goldberg at the moment is the fact that the WWE are using him all wrong. What happened to him being a monster? That was his big drawcard in WCW... in WWE so far we have a shortened version of his Long March, no bodyguards, and have seen him in a stupid spot with Golddust. They really need to build him up as a monster again, and re-start the Streak.

I can't comment on Smackdown, as we no longer have it broadcast here in Australia. As for RAW, I hope Kane wins and holds the title for at least a few weeks. Maybe having Goldberg beat Kane for the title, leading up to a showdown between Goldberg and HHH at Summerslam would be a good idea.

While I agree that Goldberg isn't being used properly, I don't think a repeat of the Streak is the answer. For one, I never understood why such a seeming badass would need bodyguards every night. That said, I did like the whole long march gimmick. I'd like to see Goldberg embark on a good feud with a guy like Scott Steiner. I don't feel Steiner is a great wrestler any longer, but he is big and powerful and he has a nice looking valet in Stacy Keibler.

As for Kane, while I'd like to see him win Monday, I don't see it happening. Which brings us to my idea for Summerslam:

Triple H (c) vs. Kane for the World Heavyweight Championship in an Inferno Match.

anyone who thinks booker should win the IC title hasnt been paying attention to wrestling at all the past 20 years.

the ic title is the stepping stone on the way up. or the glass ceiling for the non-heavyweight ittle contenders.

it is NOT supposed to be won or even fought for by real main event contenders.

jericho, booker, and kane should never have been in the ic battle royale in the first place. they are MAIN EVENTERS.

this title is supposed to make mid-carders LOOK GOOD.
instead of using it to get Christian over with the fans and show that hes not the marty jannetty of him and edge... they have made booker and everyone else in the wwe make him look like a chump...if played correctly, christian as the new people's champ would have worked. instead we get this mess.

nash and flair and michaels just need to go. theyre taking up screen time for no good reason. HHH is stale, but at this point only he or booker is a viable champion on Raw. Goldberg was boring in WCW and even worse now. A signing of desperation and ineptitude on par with the signing of Steiner.

the PPV was awful not just because every match ended like it should have, not because most of them could only end ONE WAY, but because they all ended in the most boring/stupid way possible.

even something simple like putting the tag titles on La Resistance so that the APA could come back and feud with them is messed up, by having the APA show up on Smackdown to help Taker fight off the FBI.

Kane and RVD break-up without Kane even chokeslamming RVD.

Christian doesnt look strong in his match and cheat to win, but looks like a complete wimp, tries to get counted out on purpose, and when the ref says no, he gets dqed on purpose and the ref lets it stand.

Michaels and Flair wrestle a too-short match with a screwjob ending as if they cant have a clean win one or the other. I'm pretty sure the fans wont suddenly think one of these guys SUCKS if he loses to the other cleanly.

test finally is showing some personality....so he loses so a guy who cant wrestle OR talk can get a win.

and jericho-goldberg would have sooo been helped by a jericho win. (and given the feud a good reason to continue) instead, goldberg wins, and the feud continues ANYWAY??? HUH? please note the GOLDBERG SUCKS chants during the match. some people still like this guy, but more hate him.

and the redneck triathalon never ended. it went on and on and on... and the mae young thing was so obvious it hurt.

this ppv sucked

smackdown has many better wrestlers. but currently i dont even have any high hopes for smackdowns ppv next month.
all the big old guys are still getting pushes. and all the young new guys are showing signs of greatness and being pushed all wrong.

i know that kurt angles U SUCKs are different than other wrestlers. i know that people boo kurt but really like to watch him. so do most smart people. did they really need to make him a good-guy to explain this to us? somewhere in the last few months the writers on both shows have once again started treating us like we're all idiots. and its sad.

Though I haven't watched wrestling for the past 20 years (more like 7), I see your point regarding the IC title.

I personally don't think Christian would make a good face, but I would like to see him be a competent wrestler & devious heel instead of a cowardly one.

I agree with you about Nash, though I do feel that Flair and Michaels have a place in the WWE.

I like Flair as a manager for Randy Orton whose mike skills are either non-existent or underutilized (I haven't been impressed with any of his mike time to date).

I could see Shawn Michaels in the same capacity, though perhaps on Smackdown instead of RAW. Perhaps with Spanky (btw, please change this kid's name, for the love of God!).

As far as the tag team situation goes, I agree that things are pretty screwed up, but that is true for both shows, not just RAW. Tag teams that IMHO are viable for each show:
RAW: Dudley Boyz, La Resistance, Regal/Storm
Smackdown: APA, Stamboli/Palumbo, Benjamin/Haas, Los Guerreros

I think that they might be better off having one unified Tag Team Championship so that you don't get the same guys fighting each other all the time on each show.

I also agree that the build up to the Kane/RVD split was much better than the execution.

With regards to Goldberg-Jericho and Goldberg in general, I agree with most of what you said. I do think Goldberg could be a good signing, but we need a reason to care about him, and so far neither he nor the writing staff have given us one.

Test is starting to develop a nice heel personality, but I don't think the WWE wanted to have Stacy getting her ass kicked every week on Cable TV to prove that Test is a jerk. Nor did I like the whole powerslamming (heck the whole appearance) of Mae Young.

Smackdown does have a lot of good wrestlers, I think the problem both shows have run into is that the split of the WWE belt forced both shows to homgenize to a certain extent.

When the RAW/Smackdown split first occurred, you had a lot of good cruiserweights on Smackdown, some good Tag Teams on RAW. You don't have that any more.

I'd like to see the titles work like this:
WWE Championship (titleholder on both shows)
RAW Championship (formerly the IC title)
Smackdown Championship (formerly the US title)
Tag Team Championship (title holder on both shows)
Womens Championship (titleholder on both shows)
Cruiserweight Championship (as most cruiserweights are on Smackdown, you could probably confine it to one show, but guys like the Hurricane on RAW would make great Cruiserweight champions)

Isn't it a pity that, at this point in time, we are not going to see a Brock Lesnar v Goldberg match?

As I said earlier, I can't really comment on Smackdown right now. However, Kurt Angle is definately on of the best wrestlers in the buisness. I think that, in the long run, the brand seperation is going to hurt the WWE. The example of this in the tag teams. HOW MANY TIMES do we have to watch RVD/Kane vs La Resistance? Or Trish vs Jazz or Victoria?

It will be interesting to see how they handle Evolution (probably all wrong, but we may get surprised).

And I think Goldberg can be good. They just need to get him right (maybe have him turn heel as the fourth member of Evolution?)

And of course you are right about the IC belt. I think I am just sick of seeing Booker pushed them to have him fall flat on his face.
