Bad ideas in gaming

Vampire the Sparkling, the official Twilight RPG :D

You do know that the makers of Club Penguin are working on a Twilight virtual world, right? My 11-year old daughter is psyched. Me, I keep telling her "When exposed to daylight, vampires do NOT sparkle! They flippin' burst into flame!!"

As for games... let see...

I'm not a Twilighter, but

NO, THEY, DON'T!

Dracula's powers are not unlimited, however. He is much less powerful in daylight and is only able to shift his form at dawn, noon, and dusk (he can shift freely at night). The sun is not fatal to him, though, as sunlight does not destroy him upon contact.

How I Met Your Mother: The RPG

In this RPG, the DM tells the PC their backstory every session why just watch helplessly.

It's sounds lame, but really, it'd be awesome.

I think this is called Baron Munchausen.

My 10 year old was raised on a steady diet of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so she doesn't really take to this Twilight nonsense.

/Dracula/

"Let me get this straight; I fended off challengers attempting to kill me for most of my life; I almost single handedly defended Eastern Europe from invading Muslims, impaling and killing thousands - for which my reward was to be cursed by dark powers for all eternity; and I've spent that eternity searching for my lost love ..."

"And all you guys want to do is sit around looking cool, sparkling, and staring meaningfully at eachother?"

"I think it's time to clean house."

Oregon Trail: the RPG

Each player takes on the role of a family member and works together to try and complete various encounters. Fill the roles of Father, Mother, or Child(er), and choose from classes such as Banker, Woodworker, Fjorder, and Dysentery Dier. In this harsh, gritty campaign, survival is the utmost as the PCs struggle against an uncaring wilderness to complete their quest with their family in tact.

Wait... that sounds awesome. nevermind!

Oregon Trail: The MMO.

why settle for a paltry 30 minute simulation of the hardships when you can navigate a series of challenges and minigames on a time scale comperable to the actual journey? Level up through the journey, collect epic gear such as Shirt of Clothening, Boots of Mud Repelling, and The Buffalo Slayer. When your done leveling up on the journey, switch gears to complete the "Raid Content" of actually living in oregon and running a business. If you're eager to try again, roll an alt by clicking the "Send mail to your cousins" button.

damnit, I would play that too!

From the makers of Mouse Guard: Gerbil Watch.
Democracies and Demogagues: Politics the RPG.
Moles under the Vineyard.
Furry: The Scritching.

Already been done, as GURPS: Rocks, Plants, and Trees.

I'll argue that RPT was actually a worse idea than Stone. For one thing the diversity of allowing players the choice of both mineral and vegetable PCs precludes many campaign concepts such as the ever-popular "Defend your quarry from invasion by humans filming an episode of Doctor Who".

Furthermore, being part of the larger GURPS system, players of RPT have access to rules for portraying animal PCs as well, and eventually someone is going to insist on being allowed to play a beetle in a stones campaign. While vegetable PCs cause some milieu issues, animal PCs are simply unbalanced mechanically versus mineral and vegetable PCs. The abilities of animals to move around and communicate makes them mechanically superior to their mineral and vegetable counterparts and is in no way balanced by their near-constant need for nourishment.
