Bad ideas in gaming

A good idea would be a reality TV version of "Tomb of Horrors", a great way to get rid of celebrity wannabes and Z list stars.

Hanna Montana: the MMORPG

You have no soul.

I'll argue that RPT was actually a worse idea than Stone. For one thing the diversity of allowing players the choice of both mineral and vegetable PCs precludes many campaign concepts such as the ever-popular "Defend your quarry from invasion by humans filming an episode of Doctor Who".

Furthermore, being part of the larger GURPS system, players of RPT have access to rules for portraying animal PCs as well, and eventually someone is going to insist on being allowed to play a beetle in a stones campaign. While vegetable PCs cause some milieu issues, animal PCs are simply unbalanced mechanically versus mineral and vegetable PCs. The abilities of animals to move around and communicate makes them mechanically superior to their mineral and vegetable counterparts and is in no way balanced by their near-constant need for nourishment.

I... I can't tell if your serious or not...

Of course he's not serious.

Everyone knows the real problem with GURPS Rocks, Plants, Trees was that it was released before GURPS Atoms and even (can you believe it?!?!) before GURPS Subatomic Particles, which now means those bedrock books will now be hamstrung by previous decisions in order to avoid incompatibilities. Madness! How can you build a proper rock if you don't know how to build silicon atoms?!?!!!1!eleven!??

I get that a lot on messageboards. I think it's because of my accent.

Oh, and Coyote6 has a very valid point. Although I do see a lot of power creep in Atoms. To take the most egregious example, look at the rules for splitting atoms versus the rules for splitting rocks. Massive power up for atomic characters there.
