Bah. Who cares about D&D 3.5? Monte's Arcana Unearthed will be much cooler.

Who cares. It is a book written to be different purely for the sake of being different.

Exactly. Now, while I wouldn't say that UA is going to just plain suck, since it looks to have some pretty cool mechanical changes, thematically it doesn't look too interesting. Monte rarely fails to deliver though, so whether you want pixies with your awesome new magic system or not, chances are the book will be worth getting. Even so, I have to agree with Doc. If you don't want elves just don't play with elves. In this respect, nothing about UA will make it in any better than regular 3e, just different.

Personally i'm greatly please by they fact that AU will be staying away from the standard archetypes. I would rather buy a book full of completely new stuff, rather than some new, some rehashed. It's all about the options.

This is also precisely the reason I'm not particularly enthused about 3.5, it is a rehash. Fair amount of rules changes (perhaps even enough to call it a new edition), but in the end I pretty much already have everything that will be in that book, so why bother.

Looks spiffy.

Always on the prowl for new stuff to add to my campaign...

PS- I am back- after my long absence- don't even know if anyione noticed.... just got settled in up in San jose.
