namely that classes need to have flavor or represent something specific.
So what, exactly, do they do that feats and PrC's don't? What is the *point* of a base class? From what I know "your character's class is his or her profession or vocation".....every example in the PHB represents a fantasy archetype by using rules to support that archetype.
So how does the Samurai fit in....sure, it is an archetype, a noble warrior....only paladins and fighters can already fit that archetype....so how does it mechanically support being a noble warrior? With non-Dexy TWF and Intimidation....and since when was non-Dexy TWF and Intimidation the defining traits of a noble warrior?
A noble warrior is already supported by the classes that exist, and the Samurai brings no new "noble warrior exclusive" abilities into the mix....it's superfluous. It's not really HURTING anything by being there, but there's no REASON for it to be there, either. Noble warrior can be done without the Samurai class, and the Samurai class abilities exist entirely independant of the Noble Warrior archetype.
