balanced spell point system?

Abe, just out of curiosity; flavor-text aside what do you want from a spell-point system that can't be achieved simply by dumping Wiz/Sor altogether and replacing them whole-cloth with the XPH Psion/Wilder?

With a better idea what you're trying to accomplish we can provide better feedback.
well, what got me started on doing this chart was the fact that the UA spell point allotment for wizards was so much less than the XPH allotment for psions. aside from that, i have no problem using the XPH system for arcane/divine magic.

Actually, if you dump Wiz/Sor for Psi/Wilder you lose out on illusions and necromancy, so dumping it whole-cloth may not be your best solution :)

by the way... anyone have any comment on the "roll for spell points" proposition? people will probably say that that makes them under-powered, but where's the middle ground, hm?

It adds too much chance... if you would roll them every morning, it might be ok, actually, but once for your life?

If you roll low, you are just bad for your whole career. No fun. :)

Same, why I don't use strict hit points rolling. It's no fun for fighters to have less hit points than wizards (with bad dice rolls).

True, but it's probably easier to re-add Illusion and Necromancy spells as psionic powers than to rewrite the entire arcane magic system. ;)
