Ballistic cover penetration thoughts...

Kreynolds, have you looked at Weird Wars II: Blood on the Rhine by Pinnacle. They have a nice solution to this very problem.

Much like your second option, the armor or hardness value is subtracted from the damage done. Evey weapon is given a penetration value and that value goes against the hardness of the target or cover. For most standard weapons, this is a negative number thus adding to the hardness of the target or cover. So, for most firearms, penetrating standard armor is difficult, as it should be. However most hardness values for walls and doors are low and even with a negative penetration value, the damage done is sufficient to effect a target on the other side. Also, if the penetration value of the weapon is higher than the hardness, ALL the damage passes to the other side. Not super realistic but simple and effective.

Is there a link to this? So, that it would cut down on research time. Thanks.

Sorry dkilgo. I was referencing the book. You can go to peginc.com. That is Pinnacles offical site. Unfortunatley, they don't have any links to game rules there. There may be a third party site but I don't know of one off the top of my head.

If anyone is interested, their rules for air combat are some of the most elegent and effective I have ever seen. Running dogfights over Europe is a breeze and a blast too.

Anyway, if you need any more reference data, I have all the Weird War II books and would be happy to pass any info along.

dkilgo, their rules are simple and effective. My synopsis pretty much covered it. Where they shine is with all the weapons data they have. I would be happy to pass anything along. Let me know.

I am just trying to look at everything from an objective view point. So, I may be able to assist in the matter at hand.

I really do like what Krenolds has posted, and will probably use it when the time is right. Thanks Kreynolds.
