Had to be. Otherwise it wouldn't cut off the head, it'd just do 1d8 points of damage

Hm. Does that really count?Michael Silverbane said:The outsider-bane quality makes it a +6 weapon when used against the solar, which qualifies it as epic for the purposes of bypassing DR and beating regeneration and whatnot...

Yes it does. Especially when Hyp' says so.jasin said:Hm. Does that really count?
Shorthand? Don't try to read too much into it.I always thought that the "enhancement bonus higher by +2" was just shorthand for "another stackable +2 to attack and damage".
It's not a standard/constant/permanent enhancement bonus, though. It only kicks in when swung at its bane foe.If it isn't, if it's a real increase to the enhancement bonus, following all rules for enhancement bonuses, it could be argued that a +4 outsider bane weapon becomes (when used against outsiders) is a +5 weapon that deals +2d6 damage, since "Magic weapons have enhancement bonuses ranging from +1 to +5." and "A weapon can’t actually have a bonus higher than +5." and "

SRD said:A few very powerful monsters are vulnerable only to epic weapons; that is, magic weapons with at least a +6 enhancement bonus. Such creatures’ natural weapons are also treated as epic weapons for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.

What'd happen is basically that the flesh and muscles would reattach so fast the head wouldn't have a chance to be flung away; so while the sword does do a decapitating strike, the effect of it doesn't happen.
