basic attacks from weapons

what if, instead of everyone has a basic attack they can use any wepon for, what if each weapon (or weapon catagory more likly) came with an attack.

Like all simple and martial light blades can make the folowingbasic attack

str or dex vs AC 1w+str or dex effect: you or an ally may shift 1 before or after the attack

all simple and martial heavy blade can make the following:

Str vs AC 1w+str effect you gain a +1 to AC against that target until end of next turn.

All simple and martial Axes can make the follwoing:

Str Vs AC 1w+str or Con, effect: You can choose to grant combat advantage to make it BOTh str and COn to damage.

Novel idea. You could fit all the weapons onto a single page, probably, maybe two if you want a bunch of hook-fauchards and glaive-guisarmes. Things might get complicated if a PC has quick draw and carries a huge variety of weapons, but it should be straightforward enough that such a player could remember their stats in his head.

I like it.

I like it.

the important part is you as a player decided how complicated...

player A has a long sword and bow, each has 1 attack

player B has a kopesh (heavy blade and axe) so 2 diffrent attacks, a bow and a sling, so 4 attacks to juggle.

player C has a spike chain (lets just say with a couple diffrent options) a sheild and sword, and 2 back up weapons and quick draw...

I like it. I think this would make the choice of weapon have more of an impact on character theme. I also think weapon damage should have more impact on the overall damage. !

I´d like more basic attacks...

I think, the 4e light and heavy thrown properties are a good beginning.
I believe, there should be "heavy ranged", and "light melee" too.
I don´t really want other stats for the to hit roll, really.

Maybe attack bonus is decoupled from stats (or has a much reduced effeect, like in 2nd edition) So I really would be ok with nearly all stats adding to damage.

(bow: strength, crossbow: dexterity, but minimum strength to use, rapier: int to damage, min dex to use... there could be a lot done with weapons, and I want them to be used without feat taxes... which means: daggers are wielded with dex)
