Basic Ranged attack

So this is a stupid n00b question, but do you ad your dex to the damage of a ranged basic attack (Xbow, Longbow, etc) and what not? Or can anyone point me to the page in the phb where this is addressed? THanks

Yes. See Basic Attack page 287.

The only exception is if you are using a weapon with the heavy thrown category. In that case, you use Str to modify attack and damage.

Awesome, thanks. I thought so but mostly working from stat blocks and somehow overlooked those in the phb and I knew i couldn't assume to know from monster stats since things work on different systems now... Thanks for clearing that up.
