Basic Wild Shape question..

-Ekimus-

First Post
unfortunately, i have no PHB to assist me in this, for some damned gremlin stole my entire groups PHB's...

im playing a Shifter (MotW), lvl 9.
i have never played a druid before or done wild shapeing.
what stats do i keep from myself, and which do i take from the creature i become? do i use my BAB and add it to its attacks or do i take them straight up? i know about items i have on myself before i transform.

i know that i use my HP total...and thats about it :D

any info is appreciated

You keep your INT, WIS and CHA and get STR, DEX and CON from the creature you transform to. As you noted your HP total doesn't change despite of the CON change.

You take your BAB and add relevant ability modifier (which is same as the animal has, since it's normally STR or DEX).

Notice that most animals are only able to do one attack with their natural weapons (so no iterative attacs with those forms).

Primary attack of the creature is at your full BAB, secondary attacks at -5.

you can get the wildshape rules without the PHB. The updated rules are available online at the WotC site -- look for the Web Enhancement download for Masters of the Wild; full wild shape rules are in that.

though, what's been said already is pretty much it as best as i can recall off the top of my head.

As a shifter, equipment doesn't meld into the new form if you don't want it so. You get all extraordinary abilities of the new form (this includes SR, fast healing, regeneration, rake, constrict, pounce, improved grab, sprint, rend, some immunities, keen senses, feats and so on).
Fortitude and reflex saves may change, depending on the new CON and DEX stats.
You can mix the druid's wildshape and the shifter's greater wildshape to get the best advantages from both (e.g. with WS allowing large animals and GWS allowing monstrous humanoids, you could become a large monstrous humanoid like a centaur).

do you get their spell like abilities as well? ex- a naga which has casts as a sorceror...etc?

thansk all

You do not get spell-like or supernatural abilities. You Do, however get Extraordinary abilities that are not the direct result of the creature's type because your type doesn't change. You also get racial skills and feats. For example, you could get poison, regeneration (Yup, its extraordinary. Look it up.), weapon finesse -claws-, bonuses to hide, etc. On the other hand, you could not become immune to critical hits by becoming a zombie. That comes from its undead creature type. You also keep your own spell-like or supernatural abilities, such as stunning fist if you have a level or two of monk, gnomish racial spells, etc. Your form has to be physically capable of making use of those abilities, of course.
