This means that more gamers are talking to their local retailers and asking that they carry more Bastion products and that those gamers are then buying the products. So there is improvement but gamers still have to do more if they want to see future Bastion products on the retailers' shelves. You have to create a demand that the retailer will react to accordingly. Do that and you could one day see color products from Bastion again. ;)

Won't happen in this town- my FLGS has a shelf very similar to mine. Trying to talk others into buying any Bastion book beyond Torn Asunder is almost impossible. (And I really don't have the desire or space for 2nd and 3rd copies just to get the books off their shelf).

Oathbound is doing a respectable figure as far as sales go, but when you look at the costs of development, redoing art and releasing a new print version costs vs. likely income from sales, it just isn't a good business decision.

You mean a print form of OB 3.5, right?

However, to shed a little good news about Bastion, in the March issue of Comics & Games Retailer, Bastion Press was number ten in the rankings of average unit sales for retailers' best-selling roleplaying games. These rankings would reflect sales only for the month of December and are based on the number of retailers who reported and, more specifically, what they reported to the magazine for that month's sales. Prior to this issue, Bastion has never made the Top 20.

Seriously, is there any other month that is more important?

Prestige races are still being debated although changes are also likely in that arena as well.

Good. I'm not a big fan of the "xp as currency" philosophy (including in magic item creation). I'd much rather see the prestige races converted to some kind of racial level or feat.

Otherwise, I'm very happy to hear Wildwood is coming out soon and Bastion is still chugging along.

Cheers
Nell.

I'm putting the finishing touches on the final draft of this section. Some people feel differently, but I agree with your opinion on the matter. The major flaw with xp as currency is the initial xp outlay's rapid depreciation. Subtracting 5,000 xp from a 6th level character hurts, but over time the expenditure's initial cost decreases to a point where it is virtually negligible.

True. I think that concentrates prestige races in the upper character levels, where the cost is less of a jawdropper.

Sadly, this just confuses my own campaign design even further. I'm already bogged down in racial classes, racial feats, a "Midnight" hero path system, and a "Dawnforge" racial talents/transformations system. Throwing this and Iron Lore (the Malhavoc Gen Con release, apparently) into the mix, and I'm drowning in options! :heh:

I'm really glad to see support for Oathbound pushing forward. d20 is long on mechanics supplements, and short on quality, detailed, and supported settings to use those mechanics.

Cheers
Nell.

Just wait till you see the maps. We should have those available for download shortly.

I must say, the maps in this product totally rock!

We did the maps for Wildwood and they came out really good. I always liked the Bastion guys and was happy to work on this with them. I can't wait to see the final product. The previews look great. When your looking at the map of the city know that each one of those little buildings was hand drawn. Took a long time, but I think you'll all appreciate the final results.
