Batman & Supes: Maybe WB got the memo after all?

OK, Catwoman and Flash both sound like they're going to suck big time. But I think we can all agree that the future of DC movies rests on how WB handles the biggies: Superman and Batman.

Batman's got a good director attached. They've got Christian Bale to star, who was my favorite out of the rumored short list. They've got a good villain in Ra's Al Ghul.

For Superman, WB is clost to signing M. Night Shyamalan to direct and Brendan Fraser to star (which I was raving about when it was a casting rumor on the last gawdawful Superman script Which Must Never Be Spoken Of Again).

So maybe WB's not as dumb as they look after all? Could it be true?

Could be that someone's grown a brain... could just be that, if you drop a penny a bajillion times, it eventually lands on its edge.

Still, if I weren't a straight male, I'd say "Brendan Fraser? Mm-mm!" That'll certainly be interesting...

I'm not so hot on Frasier being Supes, but I can deal with it. I'd rather have a lower profile actor but that's just a personal preference. Otherwise, if all this pans out it looks really awesome. The names mentioned all sound like they could do justice to the material.

Brendan Fraser. Hmm. Still can't get that George of the Jungle or the Encino Man or the Airhead out of my mind.

I guess it will be an action-comedy film?

Whose doing Ra's Al Ghul?

I just have David Warner's voice so ingrained and associated with Ra's now, it's hard for me to picture someone with a different voice there :).

Oooooh, good choice of villain! Plus, it avoids the easy trap of Batman films, which is to make them all about madmen that dress funny and hurt each other...:D Should be good fun.

As for Supes, well, I'll wait and see on that one.

Hmm. Go see The Quiet American. He was great in that, without a trace of tomfoolery. After I saw that I thought he would make a very interesting Superman.

When the news that Michael Keaton (Beatlejuice!!???) was doing Batman...everyone was up in arms! So I've learned not to judge a casting choice before i see it.

Don't forget Gods and Monsters, in which he was also quite good.
