Battle Box!

Leisuregames.com can handle international orders, they are based in London. I'm not sure when they are getting the battlebox though, their new releases list is due out today.

Edit: forgot to say "Get in line behind me for one though!" ;)

Glad to see the interest in the product. It was sold out on Sunday when I went to grab a copy. Ah well, I'm sure Games Plus will have it soon enough.

Battlebox rocks so hard it hurts. I used it in my game on Monday, and when I broke out the Burning Hands template, my players broke into raptures. And then, they wanted to see the Grapple card. And the Bull Rush card.

Having those cards really did encourage them to try a wider variety of tactics in battle.

Heh. And you should have heard the moans when I showed them (they're level 3) the fireball template.
My work here is done.

:D

I posted this question on it's own thread, but what is the battle box? I have seen the pictures of the box, but what is all in there? Thanks.

Hi Shouit!

BattleBox comes in a metal case. When you open it up, inside you'll find:

A fold-out dungeon-themed "battle mat" for tabletop play.

A fold-out poster of spell templates, including fireballs, 30 ft. cones, 30 ft. circles, 60 ft. lines, etc. These can be laid over your battlemat to see who's affected by spells.

Cardstock Spell Effect Counters - similar to our existing creature and character counters -- these are little representations of spell effects, such as "teleport circle", "burning hands". "Bigby's Fist", etc. They're designed on a 1" = 5-ft. scale, same as D&D (and D&D minis).

A pad of Character Tracking info -- room for 4 characters, record their hp, AC, BAB, weapons, etc. with room to track initiative. Use it for an adventure and then throw it away; it's a pad, so a fresh sheet is waiting...

New Rules - the Pursuit System for overland chaces (a method of conducting cinematic chases over a large distance with a few rolls) and the Alert Factor System by Mike Mearls (a method of monitoring the readiness of the residents in a closed environment, such as a castle or dragon's lair).

Action Cards = these seem to be one of the most popular features. They're the basics of the standard combat actions, broken down into simple steps and laid out in easy-to-follow steps. Simpler than flipping through the Player's Handbook, they tend to encourage new techniques and help with exciting combats. It's worked wonders for my group and the others in FDP.

PLUS - a tiny d20!

Hope that answers your question!

- James

I'm 112 miles or so away from my FLGS now. I'm going to check their website today, but how else can I order one? Firey Dragon's website doesn't seem to let us order direct...

Maybe I'll look in town, but the one game store I've been to didn't have great selection.

(Plus some townies have told me some sketchy things about the owner - I'm definately going to the *other* store with game stuff, and not the one I've been to on the downtown mall)

We're shipping BattleBox to our warehouse today, so it'll ship to distribution on Friday, and out to retailers next week. So it may be a week or two before you see it in stores.

In terms of Toronto stores, I don't really have a preference. Hairy T was great at one time, but I'm not sure how they've been lately. Evidently, there's someone on the boards now who is co-owner of a store in T.O., but I'm not sure who.... (pipe up if you know!)

Online sales - we're affiliated with Steve Jackson and www.warehouse23.com, so it's great if you buy it there -- the listing should appear as soon as they get product.

In canada, I often use www.cyberdungeon.com - they're out of Quebec, which means no PST for me! :)

Hope that helps. Keep your eyes open! We're going to be building more this weekend, 'cause I have a feeling our initial shipment will sell out (we went through our first shipment of Adventure Tiles so fast that warehouse 23 didn't even get their initial order, so feel free to prebook).

Also- breaking news. Counter Collection Gold (ENnie Winner!) is now Out-of-Stock. It was a Limited Edition product and will not be reprinted, so if you were looking for one and happen to see it when you're getting your BattleBox, you should probably grab it.

:)

Thanks,

James

Actually, you can order from us online through http://www.warehouse23.com/. There is a link to their site on the left-hand side of the FDP main page, but it can be easy to miss.

Edit: Hmm. I just checked Warehouse23, and it seems that they don't actually have BattleBox listed there yet under Fiery Dragon. Most likely that's just because BattleBox is only just getting out into distibution, so you might want to check back every couple of days so you can catch BattleBox as soon as it goes up -- and while supplies last!

Edit the 2th: D'oh! Looks like Fiery James beat me to the punch while I was checking out Warehouse23. Curse you, James, and your borken fingers! Borken, I say!

Cheers,
