battle sorcerer broken?

IMO,
Battle Sorcerer's are far from being broken. I think the class is just fine if not a little underpowered. Thats only because I prefere more flexability from an arcane caster though.
If I want to play a strictly offense oriented arcane caster I prefer the Warmage. It still has a limited spell list but eventually you can use medium armor and light shields and the sudden metamagic feats are pretty nice.

I think the battle sorceror would be a good basis for a Eldritch Knight build: FTR 1 / BS 6 / EK X. This will give a slightly better BAB, and the ability to cast spells in armor compared with the regular sorcerer or wizard builds.
Add in the feat Battle Caster from the Complete Arcane, and you can cast spells in medium armor, including mithril full plate. Not too shabby.

The Battle Sorceror may make for a slightly tougher combatant in the most common combats, but a little armor and d8 HPs is not going to help enough if you lack a good spell for the combat at hand and have to immediately fall back on Magic Missiles.
