I wonder if Sky One will be involved for the second season. If they are, then we may well get it here in the UK before the states again. Cool. I shall ask 'em.

My only disappointment is that they're doing the "13 episodes is a season" thing. Still, I'm glad to see the show at all. :)

Have you heard that season 2 will also only be a 13 episode run? The information at the start of the thread did not indicate how many episodes have been contracted for, so I was wondering if you are just making an assumption or if this was announced somewhere. If the show is this much of a hit, a 20 episode season seems like it might be a possibility. A shorter first season is not that uncommon - it reduces the risk if the show is a flop.

I've definitely read somewhere that that they've signed up for a 13 ep season which may be extended to 20. I thought it was a link on this site that I followed, but I can't find it.

Actually I can - here it is! It was a link from Sky One's forum.

Galactica Returns This Summer

SCI FI Channel announced that the second season of its hit original series Battlestar Galactica will premiere this summer, with 20 new episodes. The channel added that the entire ensemble cast will return for season two, including Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Katee Sackhoff, Jamie Bamber, James Callis, Tricia Helfer and Grace Park. Also resuming their roles are executive producer and writer Ronald D. Moore and executive producer David Eick.

Galactica will resume production in Vancouver, B.C., in March and will again anchor the channel's SCI FI Friday block of prime-time original series.

The series, which premiered on Jan. 14, has been averaging over 3 million viewers per episode and has quickly become SCI FI's highest-rated original series and has received unprecedented critical acclaim. Galactica airs Fridays at 10 p.m. ET, part of the channel's successful SCI FI Friday lineup, which also includes Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. Galactica ends its first season with a finale episode on April 1.

So season one ends april 1st and they start showing the new ones in summer.... so that means there will only be a little empty void without BSG! :)
