D&D General Beadle & Grimms Forgotten Realms Premium Map Collection

Beadle & Grimms is selling a collection of maps from the upcoming Adventures in Fearun D&D Hardcover, and the preview page reveals the 10 regions the two FR books will cover in the Gazetteer.

Anauroch
Arcane Empires
Forgotten Lands
Heartlands
Lands of Intrigue
The North
Old Empires
Sword Coast
Trackless Sea
Vilhon Reach

10 of the 18 backgrounds in the books will represent these regions, while the other 8 will represent the 8 joinable factions (Cult of the Dragon, Order of the Gauntlet, Harpers, Purple Dragon Knights, Lords Alliance, Red Wizards of Thay, Emerald Enclave, Zhentarim).

At GenCon, I was able to play through the Forgotten Realms preview adventures and see some of these backgrounds. They were:

Ice Fisher (The North)
Genie-Touched (Lands of Intrigue)
Moonwell Pilgrim (Trackless Sea)
Shadowmasters Exile (Forgotten Lands)

The preorder page of the product also shows off the custom DM screen, which reveals the books will have a new standard languages table with regional dialects like Illuskan and Lantanese alonside the standard languages in the PHB. It also lists the 42 gods that will be covered in the books, which will each get renown rewards similar to the piety points in the Mystic Odysseys of Theros book.

That is interesting, that list and the map on this lahe do suggest the area covered is approxithaf of the original Grey Box set

Where on the page are those all listed, or is thiancombijed with what you saw at GenCon...?

As annoying as it is to see they've cut the south coast off, it is good to see that the 10 regions are larger regions not necessarily tied to the mini-settings in the DMs book. I wasn't too far off in my guesses on what they might be in the original threads.

Although a lot of the south and east are just labelled "Beyond", so I wonder how much coverage those are going to get (I would think Chult would merit some reasonable coverage at least). The "Forgotten Lands" is apparently the Great Glacier/Implitur/Thesk region, which really never had an overarching name previously.

If anyone is able to blow up the list of god names so we can see exactly who made the cut, it would be nice.

Yeah, cutting off some of the coolest nations in Faerun like Durpur, Luiren, Chult, etc...

The Forgotten Lands are huge, including the none Arcane Empire nations of the Unapproachable East, with the Cold Lands, most of the Moonsea, The Vast, etc...

Velhon Reach seems to include Turmish, Chondath, the Northern Coast of the Lake of Steam (but not the Border Kingdoms), and Nathlan I think.

The Old Empires basically their traditional are, same with the Empires of Intrigue regions.

Interesting that they sectioned off Thay and Algarond (and weirdly Atumbel) as Arcane Empires, but there is only two and it feels weird leaving out Halruaa from that list even though it's far away. EDIT: got a closer look at info on the DM screen and Arcane Empires also includes Rashemen.

And the Velhon Reach bit mentions the Emerald Enclaves Island and that most of the region bans Arcane Magic.

Old Empires Region mentions Chessenta, Unther, and Mulhorand as being ruled by living Gods, which has some interesting implications for Chessenta.

The Forgotten Lands blurb just mentions vast mineral wealth and lost magics.

Heartlands blurb mentions Cormyr, Sembia, calls Dalelands frontier. If you look at the map it also includes most of the important Moonsea cities.

Anauroch is just an inhospitable desert and adjoining Glacier, inhabited by nomads and criss crossed by Caravans. Why this needed it's own region is unknown. Shade is shown in this region, even though it crashed on top of Myth Drannor (which is shown in the Heartlands).

The Deity Table counts Lolth & Eilistraee as part of the Faerun Pantheon, but Bahumut and Tiamat are missing. Interestingly it gives a Deities Name (including title), plane (usually with layer of said plane in brackets). Interesting changes are Shar & Mask lives in Hades (Nilflheim) amd Eilistraee in Arborea (Arvandor the layer I presume not the domain of the Seldarine), Umberlee is in the Abyss but no layer is mentioned. I wonder if Eilistraee replaces Waukeen in Brightwater or if she was allowed back home? Mystra is in Elysium (Eronia), but Azoth is in Arcadia (Buxenus) along with Red Night.
Trackless Sea just mentions island nations isolated from each other, but by united by dependence on the Sea.

Swordcoast just mentions it has some of the largest and well known cities in Faerun , tied together by trade and shared history.

The North mentions the harsh weather, underdark menance, and "other settlements".

I think the areas of the map labeled beyond among others will be covered in a Beyond section of Heroes of Faerun, just a guess
