Beginning Bard Needs Help

re: disguise self. That depends on how you read the "cannot change body type" clause. It can mean anything from "no males looking like females" to "no adding/subtracting wings or heads." I tend towards the latter interpretation, which is why I'd let a kenku use disguise self to appear as a human.

Note, however, that the listed character isn't a monstrous humanoid. Half-fey kenku are of the fey type, making at least alter self easy to use - just turn into a human-looking fey, and then touch up the disguise (with the skill) to look human. Of course, I also think the "only same type" clause in alter self is a stupid ad hoc balancing thing, especially considering the huge variance in what creature types look like. This kenku can use alter self to take the form of a nixie with no problems, but Vecna forfend that he use the spell to appear as a vrock.

Hmm... Vrock may be too large, I can't remember if kenku are Small size or not. Still a good illustration.

A Bard is a support and enhancement character. If you (generic you) aren't playing it as one, then you probably think it the weakest and most useless class in the game.

Darn my non-conformist ways!

Throwing Ones Voice

I think it would be cool to combine the kenku Mimicry ability with the spell Ventriloquism. So, what would happen if I tried using bluff with ventriloquism and mimicry to make a person appear to say something he didnt say? And, what should i do if that person says, "I didnt say that!" in response?

Is there a way to prevent him from notifying his friends/minions about the 'trick?' Or, do i have to try and out bluff him?
