"Behind the Spells" print compilation

And just because I'm a fan of little detail stuff, how about a few sample "ancient tomes, scrolls, clay tablets, etc." that PCs might find that would include a variant spell. It would be cool to find/ track down dusty old tomes with ominous names in order to learn some of the more powerful spell variants...

I think this is a cool suggestion, Brad. I can definitely see someone collecting these variants into books either for completeness sake (they must have all spells!) or just because these spells are oddballs and enemies don't expect them. I should probably add a section to the book detailing how one goes about counterspelling spells which have spell secrets applied to them.

And on a side note, BtS: Dancing Lights has an audio review! A little over halfway into the 11 min. podcast is my section. Click the most recent issue (July 31): http://www.iridiazine.net/issues.htm

I know this idea won't be a popular one, but I'd like to see a "Behind the Epic Spells" series. That'd be one heck of a series to digest, and the constructed nature of epic spells makes them easy to modify.

I can tell you that if such a thing does come to pass, I won't be involved with it. ;) Oh, and thank you, Shane, for giving Temporality a favorable review on my birthday no less. :D

Wow, serendipity in action! Consider it my birthday present to you, for writing such a great product. ;) :D

I'm going to give this old thread a boot and see if any other comments shake out of it. Oh, and I hope the guards and wards people are happy. ;)

I've always liked "power components". You know, thinks like "Powdered amber, from a gem valued at 100gp or more, has a 1% chance per 10gp value of the gem (maximum 20%) of empowering the spell as per the metamagic feat. "

I too would like profesison illustrations in a print edition (all text would extremely vex me). Also, more examples of using said spells in unique ways would greatly add to my intellectual fortitde.

I must say, I do hope that this gets produced. I have been hesitant about buying each of the "Behind the Spells" individually, but would gladly take it in a lump sum.

Have you been hesitant because you feared getting hooked? ;)

(Egads, is this thread really 2 months old? Oh well.)
