So how do you pronounce the thing?

My buddy back in the day used to pronounce it "be-higher", which is clearly odd. I use "be-heer" now, since "be-her" doesn't sound right. Where is the name from?

Around here be- is like in "be(d)" and -hir like in "(s)heer".
