You can't count scalability (increased DC for example) as a strike against it -- if you scale it up, it's no longer a 7th level power.

This is both right and wrong.

The cost to cast is higher, but the cost to obtain is the same. So it's somewhere in between.

And yeah, the no save part is a big difference.

Hmmm.

I'm now mostly convinced that it's not broken. Mostly. I suppose much of my scepticism comes from the psionics system, rather than the power itself. The "poison" example" up above was pretty apt and convincing.

Still, the cost difference, as well as the scope and scalability of the psionic power...ah well. YMMV, and clearly does.

(For the record: Mass Hold Monster is not a comparable spell. Saves every round, for one. And it seems clear Freedom of Movement would work against 'Cocoon.)
