BESM D20 game?

If your looking for a DM, I would gladly give it a try. I have a idea for a Sci-Fi Anime setting with some fantasy elements thrown in. I guess you could call it "Dunesque Anime". Though I would go with what ever the group would rather play. I would be up for any setting really! :p

Now that I think about it. I could just do about anything. What kind of game would you like to play? Horror, Epic Adventure, Fantasy, Modern, Sci-fi, Mecha. It's all good.

Put me in the It's ALL Good category. Genre doesn't matter to me, I'll come up with something in any genre. But, if you can manage putting in magic and other fantasy elements in a sci-fi/modern world then all the better.

Consider me a Sorceror type in just about anything, as long as magic exists. :D

Hmmm. Cool. Looks like I might have couple more victims, err, I mean players. Nah, just messin' with ya. However, I guess my time has come to dm here at the forums (I hope I do a good job). Now, recruitment hasn't acutally started yet, but expect the recruitment thread to be up shortly, maybe around sarturday or so, if I can collect my thoughts on this. If I dm, I was thinking a modern setting with a pinch of everything, from demons to giant robots.

However, I would like to know what kind of setting you guys would want to play is, so that I know what I am doing, although I don't know how well I would do a futuristic scifi setting. I only have experience in playing fantasy stuff. But hey, I gotta learn eventually.

So, any prefered settings that haven't already been voiced?

Zack, I didnt mean to hijack your game. If you want to DM then fine by me!! :) If you do I want to be in as a player. If you didn't want to DM then I would gladly DM if needed.

You are my savior! Na, don't worry about it. I always preferred playing over dming. That, and it would help if I was more experienced at dming anyway. But for that, I will let my RL group suffer. I greatly apreciate your offer. :D

Personally, I am all good for just about anything. Though I prefer higher level games, starting at first level might not be so bad with BESM d20. I am all up for fantasy or scifi, but I would prefer a combination of both, atleast so that all of the classes are available.

By the way, will the anime d20 SRD work, or does one actually NEED the actual BESM d20 book? I got me Tri-stat dx and the animed d20 SRD, but not BEMSd20 itself.

I guess I should bring this up now cuz I do want to play, I think it will be a blast, and I cannot afford the book right now. I have looked through it though, and someday do intend on purchasing it.

ES2 - it's not too bad. I personally started working on my pair of character concepts already, and I lack the BESM d20 book... the Anime SRD works pretty well, imo, and functions probably as well as the actual book does. Having knowledge of tri-stat BESM helps, as well, though it does throw you off a little (I kept looking for references to Body, Mind, or Soul, for instance... ).

Just make sure your math is right, and that you read through the rules carefully, but other than that, you should be fine. :)

As for the setting - if we go fantasy, I would prefer something along the lines of Inuyasha or Bastard!; if we go sci-fi, something like Cowboy Bebop or Outlaw Star would be good. I would like to avoid mixing the two too much (having magic in sci-fi is fine, as Outlaw Star handled it really well; and having some tech in fantasy is okay), but I could deal with it if that's what the group wants.

From what I understand. The SRD has all the rules that are in the book. So you should be able to make a character using it. I don't think you "need" the BESM d20 book to play.

Zack,
Great, after I posted that first message, I got worried that I had over step my bounds. Well let me reread the book and think over a few things. And then we can get started building characters. Any suggestions on the type of game would help.

Don't worry, I'm using the srd aswell. I've even created an attribute for those dbz and furi kuri fans out there. The fusion attribute. It hasn't had a chance to be play tested yet, but from some of the opinions I've gotten about it at the BESM boards, it looks balanced in it's current state.

Hmmm. Suggestions. Well, the campaign I am running IRL is set in the near future, but has a lot of 'fantasy' history, such as museums with dragon skeletons and stuff in them. Though science has progressed to the point where dimensional travel through technology is possible (though not safe yet), magic users do it all the time anyway. However, magic is slowly going the way of the dinosaur as technology catches up replaces it with easier ways to produce similar effects that are available to everyone.

This setting can be taken anywhere, but my players are playing as high school students (2 gun bunnies, 2 monster trainers (one is playing a takun from furi kuri, pet robot and all; the other a guy with an summoned angel companion. Both are using the fusion attribute I made up)).
