Best Cleric Domain

The Travel domain power does not protect against grapple.

It's not the same as Freedom of Movement, it just mimics one part of that spell!

The travel granted ability is often misunderstood, and hinges on how you read the wording:

For a total time per day of 1 round per cleric level you possess, you can act normally regardless of magical effects that impede movement as if you were affected by the spell freedom of movement.

vs

For a total time per day of 1 round per cleric level you possess, you can act normally regardless of magical effects that impede movement as if you were affected by the spell freedom of movement.

The first interpretation means that the granted power acts as if it was the freedom of moment spell, and the preceding text was just an example of that. The second interpretation is its specifically for magical effects, and in those circumstances only you are free to move as one under the effects of freedom of movement would be.

I believe the latter interpretation would be the correct reading of that passage.

There are already so many good suggestions, I thought I'd toss out another. My LG cleric has the Good domain and the Purify Spell metamagic feat from the BoED. That +1 caster level suddenly becomes a big deal. :)

Time (FR)
true strike, haste and permanency?
this is insane for a melee cleric.

I will back the others on luck, travel and trickery.
War for the single classed melee cleric -

Just curious, is war not mentioned because it is not thought of as good or just overlooked? I have a cleric with war and travel and like the mix.

We've had massive mileage at higher levels out of the healing domain. The granted power is passable. However, the real kicker has been using it with the feat (from Complete Divine?) that allows you to spend a turning attempt to spontaneously cast a domain spell... 'Heal on demand' has saved a large number of lives. Spontaneous Mass Heal is going to be way too useful!

I like the strength domain - granted power can be good for a few things... However, it's the spells: Enlarge is nice at lower levels and I've always had a soft spot for the 'xxxxx hand' spells at the higher levels, find them fun.

Fire & Strength from the SRD is what my PC currently has. Each has it's uses in different situations and allows a cleric to either be better melee or battlefield manager or a bit of both.

Travel is also nice.
