Best Current RPG Artist?

Ah, glad to see another Justin Sweet fan here too!

Yah, I love Justin Sweet's work. I also like Keith Parkinson most of the time. Especially his latest works.

Adrian Smith stuff is pretty cool too. But if I had to pick a favorite from the guys who do the Games Workshop stuff.....it would be Karl Kopinski. His rough looking black & white paintings inside the sourcebooks (codexes/army books) are awesome.

Okay. I love Todd Lockwood and WAR from the D&D 3e crew...of course. But you all have mentioned them already. So I'll add in some others that get me in the D&D mood when I see their art. Ones that may be a little more obscure.

I'm not a big fan of this artist in particular, but taking that picture out was just a crime...

If I could go for all time artist it would be Erol Otus. Why that fool got out of RPG art I dunno... I need to send Mr. T over there to talk some sense into him.

For me, this image is, was, and always shall be DnD:

Y'know, I was at Triple Rock Brewery in Berkeley last week with a few gamer friends of mine. And whose name should I find next to the shuffleboard, as the winner of an obscene number of tournaments? That's right: Erol frickin' Otus.

Good call. I guess the only reason I didn't list her is that it seems like after she did a few things for Green Ronin and Bastion, she totally dropped out of the RPG scene again.

Shame too. Her style would have been perfect for Faeires.

Well, she's doing a book of fairy stuff for Larry Elmore productions, with B&W full page illostrations and accompanying d20 character stuff.

And, better (for me, anyway)

she's doing all the art for my own Summerlands rpg, some of which can be seen at the-summerlands.com
