I recommended elsewhere to check out “1974 Style” and “Here is Some D&D” (the clean version) and I still recommend checking them out.

However I’ll also add Basic Fantasy RPG Essentials. It’s a 14 page document that is easy to digest.

FYI I’m pretty sure all of my recommendations do away with the “trinkets” you’re talking about.
