Best Game Aids

I met them at Gen Con, without knowing they were local. I bought the product the moment I saw it in use at Gen Con. My only real impulse buy there, and I'm glad I did.

I use quite a few accessories in my game and find the following most useful.

For a play surface I use either...
- Tac Tiles
- Master Maze
- GameMastery Map Packs
- GameMastery/Steel Sqwire Flip Mats
- Dry Erase Pens

For initiative I use
- GameMastery/Open Mind Games Combat Pad

For Miniatures I use
- D&D Miniatures (I own way too many not to use them)
- Some of my players use hand painted minis (reaper primarily I think)
- I have used Fiery Dragon counters in the past

Other Aids I use include...
- GameMastery Item Cards
- GameMastery Campaign Workbook
- GameMastery/Steel Sqwire Spell Templates
- GameMastery Crit Hit Deck (This one is not out yet, but I have the playtest copy)

I don't use very many electronic resources to be honest, other than a excel based monster generator. I do use a lot of GameMastery products.. but then again, I am biased. :)

I forgot about the item cards - those are great, and really, really were a hit with my son's friends at his D&D birthday party I ran.

8 or so kids 12 and under, me running them through a D&D adventure all day. 3D terrain, Forgotten locations maps, minis, dice, item cards, legos, megabloks, actual rocks for terrain, melted styrofoam, Combat Pad, printed out spells from the SRD, packing materials...

I've been wanting to get some Steel Sqwire Spell Templates but I just can't convince myself to spend that much money on some metal wires. A set of just 3 templates cost twice as much as a battlemat.

I would've snatched up 1 of each if they were $10-$15 for all of them. I would even buy 1 complete set of each color. But they want about $65 for all of the templates.

You might want to try our E-Z TILES series. They are fully customizable dungeon and wilderness tiles that give you complete control over items on the tile before printing. If you're feel like doing a little light model building our E-Z DUNGEONS offer outstanding 3D dungeon settings.

I'll state that the EZ Dungeons 3D line is quite good. I have some walls and doors built, and like their use of plenty of tabs to keep things sturdy. Model building isn't for everyone, but it is a good way to spend time with one or both of my sons.

Battlebox! Dangit, I have two of these things (one for AE, one for IH). They are good. In particular, the condition cards see use all the time. That and the brushed steel die in the IH one are excellent. Oh wait, so are the token trackers. Hmm. And the AE counters for runethanes. :D

I should add that I also use Dungeon Tiles, the Map Folio 3D, and the Fiery Dragon Summoned Creatures Counter Collection 5! :)
