Best Game Aids

The Combat Pad is 8.5 x 11, approximately. Plenty big, but not too big.

Add dry erase pens to things I use in every encounter.

Tact-tiles are my favorite. I wish I could get some more.
An excel sheet that I made for tracking PCs is really helpful.
Using the DDM stat cards rather than writing out monster stats is a big time saver for me.

D00d, I want this. NOW.

It is pretty fun.. unless of course, you Age of Worms DM, Erik Mona, decides to give it a vigorous playtest. Poor Gar (my PC) took a point of Cha drain and nearly got decapitated last night.

Dangerous.. but fun!

If you go to their Order Form page, there's a message that one of their suppliers crapped out on them, and thus they'll have no stock until they can find a new one. I think it's been a year already.

EBay is your friend. I just bought three extra tiles pretty cheap. :D

3 x 5 index cards. Seriously. You can track initiative, one card for each player/monster. Do a quick summary of the monster stats on the initiative card, so when they're up, you don't have to consult the book again and again. Use them to mark corridors and rooms if you don't have a battle map. Endless uses.
That's got to be one of the best ideas I've heard in a long time.

My most useful gaming aid is my laptop. I've got an insane quantity of gaming-related files in there... I could really use a portable printer for quick and easy map production.

Dude, you're lucky. I just checked ebay and, same as the last time I checked, I get nothing for "tact-tiles."

Campaign Planner I, II and III (from Ronin Arts)
Status Cards (from EN Publishing)
Buff Cards (from EN Publishing)

Some other things too, but those are all very handy indeed.

You might look at Tabletop Adventures' Bits of Darkness and Bits of the Wilderness titles... these contain random bits of terrain description that are useful when building your own adventures, stitching together or customizing modules you've got on hand, or for those times when your characters take off on their own without warning.

The products also have this description on printable cards to make them handy to add into a game without toting around a whole book.

Our Deck O' Names products also help with on-the-fly naming for all those people that your players encounter and ask about.

There are some great tools out there. This thread is a good one.
