Game of Thrones will be forgotten in 5 years. I guarantee it. It's already missing from many of the all-decade lists being published. And good riddance to bad rubbish.

The Expanse impressed me. But I don’t use Netflix, Amazon Prime, or similar services, so I can’t see the new seasons. (The same is true for other shows I’m listing.)

The Magicians

The Orville

Evil

Prodigal Son

Homicide Hunter

Killjoys

Dark Matter

Criminal Minds

Hannibal

One of my best discovery of the last decade has been Thunderbolt Fantasy. If you're a fan of wandering swordsmen and fantasy you NEED to give it a shot!

To explain what it even is would just make it sound super lame... I think watching the first 5 minutes or so of the first episode will get you into the beat of things:

This serie (so far two seasons and a movie, with more on the way) was born of the collaboration between Japanese anime writer Gen Urobuchi (of Madoka and Fate fame) and Taiwanese production company Pili who has been at this for like 40 years by now.

These things are traditional taiwanese GLOVE puppets. They're maybe two feet tall at the most and the head on these is the size of a kiwi! The details are insane and they're all handmade!

The plot of the first season is fairly simple: A wandering swordsman gets roped by a mysterious rogue-ish guy into helping a girl who is protecting a piece of a sacred sword and who is also on a mission to recover a second piece held by a villain who wants to get the full sacred sword. They for ma party with other famous figures of the land and go on a quest. It's VERY DnD, but the characters have tons of layers and secrets and relationships aren't as straightforward as they appear.

If you can get past the somewhat alien medium (it takes a lot of its styling from Chinese opera and actual stage performance) the story is incredibly good and the fight scenes will blow your mind! Especially if you enjoyed the Dark Crystal.

And dat theme...

So I’m going to have to go, thinking abut shows I’ve been excited to see each week. I’m sure I’m forgetting some, and genre are plenty which I enjoyed but didn’t quite make the list.

Game of Thrones
Star Trek: Discovery
Watchmen
Silicon Valley
Get Shorty
Killing Eve
The Bodyguard
The Boys

Honourable mention:

Doctor Who
The Good Place
Breaking Bad
Sherlock
Stranger Things
Black Mirror
Gotham
Brooklyn Nine Nine

Person of Interest still holds my vote as best TV series of the 2010s, due both to excellent acting and its timeliness as the herald of the world we currently live in (Pre-dating the Snowden story by two years).

Two shows that I'm surprised have not been mentioned yet:

True Detective - Season 1 was simply astounding. Some of the best TV of all time. The second season wasn't great, but it wasn't unwatchable either. And season 3 was really quite good, even if it wasn't up to season 1 standards.

Rick and Morty - The fanbase may be toxic, but the show is legitimately hilarious and incredibly well thought out. Great writing, great animation, great voice acting. It may still be going but I'm guessing it's only got another season or two left.

Beyond that, I'll throw my hat in with Hannibal and The Good Place. Brooklyn Nine Nine for best standard sitcom. Supernatural and American Horror story have my nod for being awesome at their peak, and not-awesome at other times.

True detective wasn't consistent enough.
A few shows mentioned have only had 1-2 seasons. Probably to early to rate show or compare them with shows with 4+ good seasons.

Brooklyn 99 is great though.
