Best of Necromancer?

I consider Tome of Horrors I and II to be core books in my group (much to the consternation of my players). The first one was everything MMII should have been but wasn't, and both deserve space on every gamer's shelves. Not that they'll stay there for long.

Highly recommended if you want that to put that great old-style feel into your games.

I'll go with what Grimstaff said.

Tome of Horrors, for sure. All around excellent monster book. The hard boud copy is a pleasure to flip through, but for 3.5, you should ge the PDF to back it up. The hardback copy was never updated from 3.0.

Wilderlands Box Set. More setting in one box than you'll probably ever use. 9 Double sided posters gives you 18 usable maps, and 2 nice thick softbacks to tell you what's on the maps. Don't forget The City State of the Invincible Overlord book for a big, nasty, gnarly city to play in, and the Player's Gazetteer for all the gods, classes, timelines etc. I'll never need another setting.

Crucible of Freya. 1st level campaign kicker-offer. Used it three times since its release and it hasn't disappointed yet. For 3x, I think it is a classic that occupies the same spot as Keep on the Borderlands did for the old edition.

Of course, you can't have a Necromancer collection without Rappan Athuk. I beleive it is their signature product. (though I didn't pick up the newer reloaded box set...maybe I better get on that)

My favorites

My favorites:

Rappan Athuk Reloaded (I think it deserves 5 stars, not 1)
Wilderlands Box Set
Tomb of Absynthor
Ancient Kingdoms: Mesopotamia
City State of the Invincible Overlord
Lost City of Barakus
Vault of Larin Karr

My picks:

Rappan Athuk
Tomb of Abysthor
Demons & Devils
Necropolis
Lost City of Barakus
Vampires & Liches

I recently picked up Coils of Set, and it looks pretty good, too, although I'm not through reading it.

My top Necro picks (not in order)...

Crucible of Freya
Tomb of Abysthor
The Grey Citadel
Vault of Larrin Kar
Lost City of Barakus
Halls of the Rainbow Mage

Honorable Mentions....

Vampires and Liches
Siege of Durgam's Folly
Doom of Listonshire
Coils of Set

No question:

Rappan Athuk Reloaded is by far 5 star death machine. Bard's Gate deserves to be ranked with Freeport and Bluffside as great cities. Tome of Horrors, best damn monster books out there. Nough said.

*casts aspersions on WW for their sheer stupidity* Gaming for gamers my foot. If this was gaming for gamers, they'll keep a Gold mine like Necromancer Games AND thank their stars for it.

Lot's of good choices, topped by Tome of Horrors.

I'll follow with the Book of Taverns. Clark sent me this for free because I correctly named the second d20 company to appear online (after Necromancer) and I think the book is excellent.

Best of Necromancer:
The Lost City of Barakus - yes, bits of the city are sketchy, but a good DM can adapt them nicely. The Dungeon is a great piece of work. I'm reading it now, preparatory to running it, and it is sheer joy.

Tomb of Abysthor - probably the best old-school dungeon around, period.

The Grey Citadel - my personal favourite, a unique city and a dangerous challenge in the sewers underneath. Great role-playing and a killer dungeon.

Tower of Jhedophar - short, high-level module which oozes old-school nastiness and has some great RP opportunities. The party may get caught in a power game between
a lich and a dragon
which should give you an idea as to its nastiness.

Tome of Horrors - a godsend for a DM tired of players who know the MM inside out.
