A big issue with 3E is that no race/class combination is forbidden. So which previous disallowed combo have you tried to use? Which is best?

Personally, I've really liked the Dwarven Wizard. The + to CON adds to hitpoint, and they've got a +2 to saves vs. Spells, which helps with low reflex saves.

A Gnomish barbarian wielding a scimitar two handed, cackling with insane laughter as he deals bloody, gleeful death to his foes.

Gnome barabrians just seem too happy to be anything but insane instead of angry.

i've always wanted to play a dwarven wizard, mostly because it wasn't allowed i suppose. Kinda makes me wounder what i'm waiting for though.
I also like the idea of elven paladins.

From a strictly role-playing standpoint, I'm interesting in the concepts behind a Halfling Ranger or Halfling Druid. Both make sense to me.

And I agree with Utrecht. Paladins are suitable for all races, especially Dwarves and maybe Elves.

We've had Dwarven Wizards, Halfling Monks, Halfling Barbarians, and Elven Paladins.

I might be missing one or two.

Edit: I was: Half-Orc Rogue.

Thaumaturge.

<insert race> Paladin.

The fact that only humans were able to reach this level of "goodness" was asinine......

I agree, except they left the paladin description as if for humans in all cases. An elven or dwarven paladin would be a lot different than a human one, and in fact, there is no provision for differences in beliefs and paladin behavior based on which god you serve.

Paladins can serve any god, as far as I can tell, which means there should be evil paladins running around serving Vecna to the best of their ability. They really should have opened it up all the way. Why would an elven paladin of corellon care much about humans? Other than to pity them and look after them as misguided children. It's only half-thought out in the PHB.

Halfling Paladins. My personal new fave.

Although the Dwarven Wizard is also great...

Bronn Spellforger, I commend you on your excellent Polls! As your DM, I will see to it that your death on Saturday is legendary. Heh, heh. Bastard indeed.

sidebar: I can't help wondering what Col. Playdoh thinks about the lack of restrictions on class combos...I never understood how they worked in 1E any more than I understood why Clerics using edged weapons would unbalance the rules...

Halfling rangers are a great combination that was previously off limits.

I used to play them in Rolemaster years back as "Thornwalkers" and they were great fun.

They work even better with the one of the *umpity* ranger varients out there that give alternate bonus feats

Can you say
Archery machine? or Stealth and Aleart ?????

Wow.
