Best resources to aid campaign world creation?

The Welsh Piper >> Hex-based Campaign Design
This guy has some very good hex map (varying scales for increased levels of detail) pdfs along with some tips on world-building.

The previously suggested World Builder's Guidebook is one of the best tools for campaign design I've EVER come across -- don't be put off by the fact that it's for AD&D 2e -- there is very little rules specific content here just great information -- well organised for building a campaign world. Top-down, bottom-up, or anything in between. I found this to be an invaluable resource. (It's available for download from 4shared.com)

Considering all the data your likely to collect/produce -- I use a freeware program, similar to OneNote called TreeDBNotes:

I also use Chrome to organise various pdfs -- rulebook extracts as well as those I produce myself.
