Best Tricks, Traps, and Riddles Module

Mistwell

Crusty Old Meatwad
I'm looking for the best modules that include many tricks, traps, riddles, and that sort of stuff. Combat is okay, I just prefer it not be the primary focus of the module.

So far I am have Gorgoland's Gauntlet (Dragon Annual), and the Challege of the Champions (1-4) senarios (all from various Dungeon magazines). I seem to recall one of the 1e modules, Tomb of Horrors, was good for this sort of stuff as well.

Any advice on where I can find more?

Thanks,

Mistwell - you might want to try some of these adventures from the following issues of Dungeon:

#37: "The Mud Sorcerer's Tomb"
#41: "Deadly Treasure"
#66: "Operation Manta Ray"
#67: "Training Ground"

They'll need converting to 3E, but that shouldn't be too difficult.

You can get a 3e conversion of Tomb of Horrors from the Creature Catalogue site (link on the EN World home page). You still need the original version for the maps and non-3e specific material, though. I think you can get it as an ESD from Wizards of the Coast's website.

Another 1e module that had some weird stuff in it was C1: The Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan, an aztec type dungeon the players get stuck at after a shipwreck. It was cool!

I wouldn't bother with tomb of horrors - it was far too full or "sorry your instantly dead" traps. I wasn't struck by it as imaginative, and when I bought it I realised that there was no way I could use it in any of may campaigns.

Other peoples experience may be different, but I wouldn't knock yourself out trying to find it, other stuff is better.

Cheers

Wow. Couldnt disagree more. Tomb of Horrors is one of the best all time modules. It is wickedly difficult and very well designed. Plus, the illustrated handouts are the best ever produced.
