Best way to kill a dragon?

First Post
Hey, in my campaign, at the start of the next session, I'm flying to kill a dragon. I am lvl 3 rogue, 5 mage, 7 arcane trickster.
I am basically a 12th lvl caster. Can anyone give me some awesome spells that could be very effective? its an Ancient Red.
I will most certainly have in effect prot. from elements, improved invis, fly, and stoneskin, as well as shield, mage armor, haste, and any other defensive spell I can think of. Any thoughts would be well appreciated. (keep in mind I get 7d6 sneak attack dmg on all touch and [30ft]ranged touch attacks)

I have a spell storing dagger that stores one 3rd lvl spell (currently vampiric touch). Also have an item that stores 5 lvl's of spells. basically I just need to know some really good offensive combo's I can use.

Ancient Reds have a CR of over 20. You are level 15. Unless you have help or there things I do not know about my advice to you would be to wait for the dragon to die of old age.

If it's sleeping, fly up really, really high and drop a rock on its head. If you fly high enough, the rock will be going at such a high rate of speed that it'll go through the dragon's skull like a warm knife through butter.

You won't get sneak attack. Dragons have blindsight, oh, well 300 ft radius or something. You're flying in solo? You'll die, most likely.

Lemme give ya'll a lil' more info. We were fighting a blue dragon, (group of 7 15th lvl players)when It got closer to death, a red dragon( its female mate) flew down and attack us as well. We managed to kill the blue, and damaged the red. The red dragon then flew up the cavern and Into a hole in the cealing, I believe it has a lair up the hole. It probably has 2/3's of its hp left. and it has expended a few spells. In my desperate attempt a retribution for a lost friend I dropped to my knees and prayed to my goddess mystra who granted me my spells back for that day as well as learning a few new spells of my choice.

Prior to gaining my spells back, I had mage armor, improved invis, fly, prot from elements, and stoneskin in effect. So now, I have all those defensive spells and all my spells for the day.

..... What if I have improved invisibility and the dragon is fighting a summoned creature allowing me to effectively flank? Also what if I cast the Tentecle spell(4th lvl forgot full name) I believe that spell grapples the opponent, perhaps that will negate his dex bonus and allow my sneak attack?

Thoughts?

I was under the impressions that red dragons only get arcanic spells, not divine. I know that blue dragons get divine however.

Not by the D&D falling rules, it won't. :)

First of all, PLEASE tell me you have a group, and it ain't just you.

If in a group, the best tactics are to find a way to face it in an enclosed area, where it can't maneuver, and to gain surprise at all costs. Spread out so that its breath does not hammer more than one or two people at a time, and convince your DM that you and your clerics need the spell Energy Immunity from Tome and Blood.

Finally, ensure you have the capability to resurrect at least two or three fallen comrades.

Past this, NOT fighting him is the best alternative, but I guarantee your chances are better with the above info if you wish to fight.
