Beyond Monk: Martial Artist

So what is the opinion on this class? Overpowered, underpowered, or just right?

In a new campaign I have a fellow PC who is a human Bartbarian1\Martial Artists1.

Seems a bit munchkin to me, though I admit I have never read his character background to explain this one.

To be honest, I think it is a bit overpowered. But I let a player run one in an OA game and the character was rather manageable. No huge problems, I think.

How about when paired with a single level of barbarian to give the martial artist rage?
