BIG DAMN HEROES - a d20 Firefly Campaign [OOC]

If Jon is ex-Alliance, I suspect he won't be the most popular guy in town. I've never seen the show, so I don't have any strong feelings either way on the Alliance and the brownshirts(?).

Browncoats. :) And there is definitely bound to be tension between ex-Alliance and those that served with the Independents.

That ri shao gou shi bing! Definitely a good idea to keep quiet about his past. Dohn la ma?
The above quote is also why Bastian is going to be able to speak fluent Mandarin, thus you'll all have to include a translation along with your expletives!

Character Notes

I've added the ship to the RG and a map of the 'Verse to the House Rules post. I've also had an opportunity to review the characters in the RG.

Mel
Please change the attack bonus for unarmed to reflect your choice of the Weapon Finesse Feat.
The Purchase DCs for both the revolver and the leather coat exceed your wealth bonus, decreasing your wealth by 1 pt. each for a total remaining wealth of 5.
Please include Mel's history on the sheet.
What is Mel's Homeworld?

Win
Autoloader has a RoF of "S". Assault Rifle has a Rof of "S,A".
Please list Handle Animal in your skills, and note the penalty for the Saddleborn trait.
If your occupation or homeworld skills provide access to a skill you already have as a class skill at first level, you recieve a +1 competence bonus. I believe that may change your bonus for Move Silently.
Please note any Armor Check penalties in the list of skills.
The Heavy Assault Rifle has a Blackmarket Purchase DC of 23: within reach with a wealth of 6, but more than 15 pts higher than your current wealth, meaning a 2d6 decrease. With the vest, the autoloader, and the grenades (DC 18 each), you're going to hit 0 even if you roll all 1s. If you could find a way to bump your starting wealth up 2 points or begin play with the Medium (rather than Heavy) Assault Rifle (DC 21), you would bring the DC of your largest purchase within the 15 pt threshold and have a better chance of affording most of the rest. Alternately, if someone with whom your character is already affiliated were willing to Aid Another, they could give you the necessary 2 pts at the cost of 1 pt to themselves.

Helsinki
I don't see your starting occupation.
It would help me if you could stat out your primary attacks.
You only recieve the competence bonus for the homeworld or occupation skills if your starting class already provides them as class skills. As Fast Hero does not list Repair as a class skill, there should be no bonus.
Please go ahead and purchase your equipment from the list provided as an attachment to the house rules post. Keep in mind that military eqipment purchased on the black market takes a +3 modifier on its purchase DC. The scope, suppresor and laser sight can be taken right out of the SRD.

Cash
I think there is a mistake with the bonuses for the light rifle. The bonus for Dead Aim should be +9 (+7 ranged, +2 Feat), and the bonus for Point Blank + Dead Aim should be +10 (+7 ranged, +2 Dead Aim, +1 Point Blank Shot).
Also, the Reckless trait should make the bonus for the rifle butt +3 (+4 BAB, +0 Str, -1 Trait), and for Brawl it should be +4 (+4 BAB, +0 Str, +1 Feat, -1 Trait).

Bastian
It's a niggling point, but the +1 bonus you list to Reputation is actually for your occupation, not your homeworld.
You have three items (2 sets of formal clothing and a restricted license) with a purchase DC of 15+, each of which will reduce your total wealth by one, for a starting wealth of 17.

Kai & Baxter:
Please add your characters to the RG when you get a chance. I'll look them over once they're there.

I'll get these fixed.

I hadn't realized we were using our starting wealth to purchase our "signature" items...if I had, I would have made sure my wealth was higher. I will make some adjustments and see what I come up with.

Don't worry too much about equipment at this point. If you want to detail a few background-appropriate items / weapons, that should be sufficient. We'll sort the rest before we start play.

This was probably confusing. What I meant was that it wasn't worth bothering with equipment until after the final characters were selected. I didn't mean to suggest that we wouldn't be purchasing our initial equipment with our starting wealth.

Mea culpa.
