BIG DAMN HEROES - a d20 Firefly Campaign [OOC]

Just wanna chime in and say I am loving this game so far. Your storytelling has really captured the feel of the Firefly world Watus!

And everyone else, I think we're doing a pretty darn fine job as well!

Helsinki's 3x3x3

--- TRIUMPH ---

The first three are based in Helsinki's hometown on Triumph. I've counted the family as one.

[sblock=1x1x1]

--- Friend ---

The Haas Family
* Ralph: Helsinki's father has run the same workshop for as long as Helsinki can remember. An honest man, he takes pride in his work. Once a bit of a bruiser, he has tried to put that part of his life behind him.
* Heather: Helsinki's mum works part time at a local library. She is, in many ways, the head of the family. She also manages the books for the family business.
* Tom: Helsinki's eldest brother works with his father in the workshop. Unlike his father, Tom is happier to work in the grey areas, and has done time twice for possession of stolen goods as a result. Tom is divorced with two children. They live with his ex-wife, Linda-Bell. The relationship between Tom and his Ex is cool.
* John: Helsinki's younger brother drives trucks for a small transportation company. John is smart and ambitious. John doesn't plan to be a truck driver for ever. He plans to own the company, and he has plans for it.
* Mary: Helsinki's younger sister is married, to a policeman no less. Her husband, Simon, takes the approach that what he doesn't know, he can't arrest anyone for. In return, the Haas family don't ask any special favours. It has worked so far, and Simon remains a welcome gust at the Haas house. Mary and Simon have a young daughter, now 1 year old.

--- Contact ---

* David Wesson: Helsinki and Wesson went to high school together. They dated for a bit. Wesson is a bit of a computer geek with a taste for hacking into other people's computers. At one point Wesson got into a bit of a spot and Helsinki helped him out. Wesson now has a legit job in IT, but Helsinki suspects he still dabbles in hacking. Helsinki and Wesson usually catch up when she gets back to Truimph, although the relationship is over. When she is travelling, Helsinki keeps an eye out for gear Wesson might like, especially higher tech stuff.

--- Foe ---

* Serge Rainier: Serge is a local councilman and 'businessman'. He has held his seat forever, and he intends to keep it until he dies. Serge is slick and charming when he wants to be. He is also bent as they come and runs a crew of heavies to back up his words. He crossed swords with the Haas family when he tried to acquire the block the family workshop was located on. The Haas family was instrumental in co-ordinating the campaign to block the acquisition. They also taught Serge's 'messengers' some lessons in politeness.

Serge's son, Josif, runs a nightclub downtown. He fancies himself as a bit of a charmer, but he is not cut from the same cloth as his father. Josif plans to go purely legit once his father passes away. But he has never said anything to his father, whom he fears.[/sblock]

Hey, all. I do have access, as it turns out. I'm in Austin - so, of course the hotel has wireless. I have some pretty heavy family obligations this weekend, though, so though you'll probably see me poke my head in now and again, I probably won't be able to advance the action until Monday.

It occurs to me, though, that this might be a good time to start the OOC discussion regarding the ships eventual name.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Shanks of Length? Michael Shanks?

Ok ok.

How about, the Longshot?

Won In A Million?

Glory Road?

Third Strike

...hmm...no, that's not a name, it's me thinking. Or rather, putting in a visual pause so you can tell I'm thinking. Not that I will be when you're reading this. Unless I am.

Fortune & Glory!

I used this for the name of a smuggling ship in another game, and it is stolen from the name of a sword in Saberhagen's writing, but how 'bout: The Coinspinner?

Changing the name of a ship is bad luck.

Longshanks is not the name I would choose for any ship of mine. But then, we didn't name the ship. I say we live with it.

thotd

Doh. Sorry, Watus and everyone. I didn't know the post was hanging on me. I thought Watus was doing the rolling. Sometimes I can be a bit thick that way, so if ever I seem slow (more than a day or so between posts) someone give me a swift kick and make sure I realize that y'all are waiting on me.

We weren't waiting on you. We were waiting on me. I was out of town this weekend and just didn't have time to post until this morning.

Have no fear.

Sorry for the delay - I'm currently getting hammered at work.

There should be an IC post later today or tomorrow at the latest.
