I would love to see Irda, which might happen as a DL tie-in

Also Ocean Giants - 20 ft long merfolk with whale flukes

include Oni too and some other ‘ethnic giants’ from different real world cultures from the Hecatoncheires and Gigantes of Greece, through the Kuafu of China, the Kapre of Phillipines, the crystalline Cherufe of Chile to the Fachan, Cewri and Ettins of Britain

Never heard of Ocean Giants, sounds cool.

Exandria and the Forgotten Realms do have the Dawn War Mythos. Its mentioned in the dmg as well.
I’m pretty sure FR has no such thing, and if it does it’s because they kept it from 4e, and Exandria wasn’t made by wotc so it can’t really be a case of them shoehorning anything.

Keeping something from a previous edition and publishing a world they didn’t build don’t equate to “forcing it into every setting”.

Worth noting that Bigby has already been used as a secondary narrator, in Tome of Foes. They seem to be building up the Citadel of Eight as a cosmic force...

1. Storm Giant
2. Cloud Giants
3. Fire Giants
4. Frost Giants
5. Stone Giants
6. Hill
7. Firbolgs
8. Goliaths
9. Ocean Giant
10. Fog Giant
11. Death Giant
12. Eldritch Giant
13. Trolls
14. Orgers
15. Oni
16. Cyclops
17. Fomorians
18. Irda
19. Titans
20. Verbreeg

Thoughts? Any that shouldn't be on the list or any that should be added?

What does a Wizard named Bigby have to do with Giants?
What does Mordenkainen have to do with the various topics covered in Tome of Foes?

Bigby is a wizard, and a wizard is a fundamentally a scholar. Even if there's not an obvious thematic throughline from Bigby to Giants like there is with Fizban to Dragons, there's no reason the guy couldn't just have enough of a scholarly interest in giants and giant history to write a book on the subject.

Lets not pretend that WotC didn't use the name because "LOL Giants and BIGby".
