Soap Opera RPGS seem to be very much fringe amongst the RPG community

there has been no D20 attempt and only two that I know of (SOAP and ToonSoap) as ToonSoap of course is very much spoof of Soap Opera and most RPG Soap games are (but then its really difficult to do serious melodramitc soap opera and keep a straight face)

There was actually a Dallas RPG.

The only games I know for furries would be Ironclaw/Jadeclaw, and Furry Pirates.

Okay, are we talking about "small genre" meaning few products, or few players?

One is not a great indicator of the other, given that homebrewing is a long tradition in RPGs. I have been told, for example, that a bunch of folks like to use BESM for furry gaming.

As for real military - depends what you call "real". Twilight 2000 is set post-apocalypse, but it is pretty strongly "real military", imho.

Sci Fi comedy genre. Paranoia and Teenagers from outer space are the only two I can think of that would fit.

It Came From The Late, Late, Late Show is the only example I know of where you play an actor in a B-movie...

Over the Edge is the only example I know of modern comdey conspiracy existentialist horror...

Pandemonium! is the only example I know of semi-modern comedy-horror where you play a reporter for a weekly schlock newspaper a la Weekly World News...

In other words, there are a lot of little on-off genres and games out there ;)

Some of them are a heckuvalotta fun!

the smallest genre? That's probably "Stuffed Animals RPG" - there's a (rather popular though OOP) game here in Germany called PP&P (Plüsch, Power & Plunder) where you play sentient stuffed animals...
