Yes, it was better than Flash Gordon, but is that really saying much?

I agree that they made her develop too quickly. She has already mastered everything well enough to be the big bad missing bionic woman? It did feel rushed, plus I'm so far not a fan of Michelle Ryan in the role.

I'll watch a second episode, but so far it gets a solid ... meh.

I think it shows some promise as a series. Far better than the new Flash Gordon (which I've given up on).
What kind of comparison is that. I can think of many things better than Flash Gordon. for example:

Galactica 1980
Highlander 2
A pointy stick in my eye

I was confused as to why Sarah Starbuck Corvus didn't just rip Jamie's normal arm out of its socket.

I'm also confused, if she was so angry about being kept "prisoner," why she didn't tell everyone she could about what happened to her. She just meekly goes along with the cover story they came up with for her.

The sister angle was annoying. Most likely because as others said they tried to cram too much into this show, so it felt incredibly superficial. Oh, and it is nice that Jamie's landlady didn't mind her just "popping off to Aspen for some skiiing" and having her watch her sister (apparently her work didn't mind either). Episode 2 should have Jamie taking on Social Services as they come to take her sister away.

Overall, it was OK. I will probably check out a couple more episodes, but it is not Must See TV for me yet.

I liked it well enough. I agree with the criticisms here, but since I was pretty much expecting that (especially the cramming of stuff in), it didn't really bother me.

I think there's great potential here, and it felt a lot like Alias, so that's sure to get a huge thumbs-up from me.

Sort of a creepy BSG reunion show, though.

All I know is, that is one ungrateful chick.

If I got my limbs and face mangled in a car accident only to wake up and find out I have shiny new atomic superpowers?

Man, the least I can do is grease a few bad guys for good ol' Uncle Sucker.

This wench wants to get all emo? Fine. Repossess the hardware and wheel her ass back home. Then she can cry all over Livejournal about how empowered she is. With her one hand.

;)

I thought the Bionic Woman pilot was great - I'm looking forward to seeing more. I thought her reaction to what was done to her seemed genuine. So was the process where she ends up coming to terms with it.

The fight with Sarah was a draw. Even though Sarah had more bionic enhancements, I was not surprised that Jamie could keep up with her. I think we'll see that one of the themes of this series is going to be "the whole (individual) is greater than the sum of its parts."

In the first pilot for this show (out a few months ago), the sister was played by a different actress entirely. The character (and maybe the actress) was deaf, putting signing and deaf culture up front, which was pretty cool. Unfortunately (for her, and for us), the actress was also not-skeletal, more rounded in a kind of Kelly Osbourne way, which in Hollywood, simply cannot stand. Can't clearly see the outline of every rib when she raises her arms? Can't see the sharp outline of her sternum between her breasts? Too fat!
