I just hope there is a balance of trade-offs between scion and mundane unblooded characters, otherwise it'll be a "bloodline superiority" game.

I'm not all that happy with the UA bloodlines system, since it's kinda lame.

For bloodlines...I'd have Scion as a template, and then add in level adjustments as appropriate. But, of course, that'd take a bit more work than I'm used to, being a lazy player and all. :)

How so? You gain certain abilities at certain levels automatically, and you only give up at most 3 of your character levels. Some say the price too cheap, others say too steep.

But that would definitely make them better than the unblooded PCs. I never figured the blooded to be the "Jedi/Sith" of Cerilia.

Why so? The template's LA should be set so that they will be on the same power as anyone else of their ECL, that is all.

I believe the whole affair was an april's fool joke. The 3.5BRCS is still underway, apparently, so it doesn't really matter for me - I'll just download the BRCS, thank you. No need for a published book.

That was the point of the game. Many of the blooded characters operated on an entirely different level than the mundanes did. For example, mundanes couldn't become real wizards, just magicians, since they couldn't get in touch with magic properly. You shouldn't play the system with a mixed group or the blooded will almost always outshine the mundanes. In our group, when Birthright was an ongoing concern, we had 2 different campaigns: Mundane and Blooded. The Blooded campaign dealt more with the rulers of the various lands, with an occasional traditional style adventuring thrown in. The mundanes were traditional adventurers going about their lives and trying to survive the god touched around them. The events of the rulers campaign would be reflected in the mundanes campaign. It was pretty fun. I enjoyed the setting and would love to play in it again.

Guess I'm not as devotedly hardcore to Birthright setting as I once thought. I'm more interested in the realm management system it is attached to.
