Birthright!

Birthright became a best seller AFTER the put the line on hold. People finaly found out that you didnt have to play a landed or what ever regent. But that the setting was most interesting itself for plain adventuring.

Birthright.net can publish official matarial, but is limited to NON-profit productions.

so in other words, yes we CAN make printed hard/soft cover books, but we are NOT allowed to make any money from it.

We have considdered doing this, but thats means we have to spend thousands of $$$$ on printing, distributing etc ...
Who is going to pay that??? Me? as webmaster?

so thats why it will be a downloadable pdf file.

and for the people that have a 2-page-per-minute-ink-jet-printer, please find someone with a high-speed laser printer, or go to the nearest copy-shop.

Just for us cheap SOBs, you will provide a B&W version of the rules in PDF, right? With 1-inch side margins (for punching holes and putting it in binders)?

Are you sure? I assume yes...
So we at Planewalker.com, we could also print hard/soft cover books without making money...

So, let's say, if one hundred people pool $50, that makes $5000, you (and we) could make a limited print run and having our official limited edition Birthright (or Planescape) 3e, couldn't you (we)?

Could you confirm it? My $50 for Birthright are already ready...

rectification...

i am sorry to say that i was wrong.
I have asked wotc and this was their response:

'They are not allowed to derive *revenue*. This means they cannot sell it at cost as that is still revenue. Individual members who download the file could take it to Kinkos and have it run off and bound. But that is about it.'

Introduction
Chapter One: Characters
Chapter Two: Powers of the Blood (a revision of the BR bloodline rules)
Chapter Three: Magic (Including realm magic, powerful spells available only to regent spellcasters)
Chapter Four: Deities
Chapter Five: Cerilia (Geography of Cerilia).
Chapter Six: Organisations and Prestige Classes
Chapter Seven: Domain Rules (A revision of the rules for runing kingdoms and other domains)
Chapter Eight: Warfare (Rule for fighting large scale battles involving hundred or thousands of soldiers)
Chapter Nine: Running the Game
Chapter Ten: Know thine Enemy (A look at monsters, notable personalities, etc)
If you can make the Magic, Domain, and Warfare sections generic, you'll have a hit. Even the people running in their own homebrew world will love you.

It is not impossible to make these sections generic. In fact, I know of many people who have used the birthright domain rules with their own homebrew campaigns. The warfare section would convert staight over, but magic and domain rules would require some conversion.

That was the answer they gave me some months ago... :(
When you told another thing, I had the insane hope they would have changed their idea... :(
Well, at least we will have the PDFs... :)

Then I highly recommend a sidebar on using Magic and Domains in a typical campaign. After all, most people already have a campaign going.
