Black Mirror s4 includes a classic Star Trek episode... (spoilers)

I think that's one of the problems when a series like this sets the same tone for all of it's episodes; predictability. They're well written, well shot, and well produced, but would you ever watch an M. Night Shyamalan movie and not be looking for the twist?

They don’t all have twists though. Some of them are just the premise introduced at the start drawn to its bleak conclusion.

Metalhead. That one really was bleak! All in black and white. Those robotic guard dogs are going straight into my sci-fi campaign!

And the final episode. A really long one! 3 dark stories which combine at the end. Probably the darkest one of the season. I thought the three would combine a bit more strongly - the first device (the pain sensing cap) didn’t play into the resolution, though the consciousness transfer tech did.

Was the little medallion souvenir his actual consciousness locked in that moment?

I’d think being locked in that toy bear for years would drive you completely mad.

Yes, the implication from earlier in the episode was that it was a snippet of the personality trapped inside a perpetual loop of the execution.

As to the bear, I'm imagining solitary confinement with only a TV for company playing content that I'm emotionally invested in, but cannot change the channel. Insane in a month.
