Black tenticles and Horses with riders...

If a Wizard throws the spell Black Tenticles in a pack of Calvary will the riders and horses need to make separate grappeling counter rolls?

Good question. Since the spell description says "every creature" in the spell area I would say yes. Also, the tentacles are 10 feet long, so can reach the riders easily.

On the other hand, I would also rule that if the horse succeeds, the rider should get a +2 on his check, but that's strictly a house rule.

I'd definitely say both riders and mounts have to make checks, partly because of the reasons JimAde mentioned and partly because I'm a meanie
