Blank DMG2 stat block format?

This is driving me crazy! Back when the new DMG2 stat block was, well... 'new', I found a blank layout for it SOMEwhere that I'd really like to find again. It was a just a blank stat block all formatted/bolded/underlined where appropriate and it had the user-filled in sections marked off with (I think) red text. It made the whole thing very easy to understand. Since my next campaign will be my first attempt at making my own stat-blocks, a blank template like this would really come in handy. BUT I CAN'T FIND THE STUPID THING!!!

I mean, sure, I could just open up my DMG2 and make a blank template myself, but why do all that when it's already been perfectly done for you, right? (Of course, one could argue that in the time I've wasted searching for this thing I could've already made my own- but that way lies madness! :p )

So, if anyone has seen such a thing online I'd really appreciate a link to it. Thanks!

Hi FoxWander,

I have not seen anything like that anywhere. However, if it's your first time doing stat blocks, it's most probably a good idea that you do your own template anyway - particularly if you have the DMGII. You learn where things go and thus directly where to look when you need to. I mean if you plan to write each creature up, the time to develop your own won't take much time compared anyway.

Best Regards
Herremann the Wise

PS: It's most likely not a good idea to ask for copyrighted stuff on here either. Most people on EnWorld take a poor view of such requests.

The format you're describing sounds like the one used by the Game Mechanics, which I find very helpful. As far as I know, they haven't updated this to the new statblock format.

I originally posted the d20 Wiki template that was referenced above, and developed my own Word termplate which (I think) I've attached to this post. Hope it helps!

Thanks Garnfellow, that's pretty much exactly what I was looking for. I still wish I could find the original site though because it was an indepth explanation of how to use it. And I could swear it was on some WOTC official site.

Of course, maybe the reason I can't find it has to do with what Herremann mentioned above about copyright. Although from what I've gathered on the net the stat block isn't copyrighted. (Indeed there's quite some doubt that a 'layout' can be copyrighted. There's some limited discussion of it in this thread over on the Paizo boards. That thread ends with a post from Dungeon essentially giving blanket permission to use the stat block- and it's the only 'official' mention I've found about it's use.)

I think what you're looking for is the Game Mechanic site in the "Freebies" section.

Well, not to mention that if the new statblock is copyrighted, then the old statblock is too, considering that I've never seen it appear in the SRD anywhere. But nobody seems to have put up a fuss over that.
